WARDOGS community servers are player-rented servers with admins who can ban cheaters on the spot. Patch 0.11 — announced 12 September 2026 and deployed in the 14 September maintenance (08:00 UTC) — gives them their own browser tab and a bonus 5% End of Match cash for a week. This guide separates what the announcement promised from what is live; where we could not verify a feature in the client, it says so. Patch 0.11 also gave every community server a persistent ID you can join by, added text search, and tightened the rules on server names. Below: how to find and join one, what renting costs at the three approved hosts, and which servers will get your account permanently banned.

TL;DR

  • Patch 0.11 splits the front end into two browsers, Community and Official, with filtering removed from Official and text search added to Community.
  • Community Server IDs now persist between matches and restarts, and the number is much longer than before for security reasons.
  • Community servers carry a bonus 5% End of Match cash bonus “for the next week” from 12 September 2026, and the studio told grinders to use them.
  • Renting means QONZER, BisectHosting or xREALM — BULKHEAD has not published server files, and secondary reporting of its 29 August thread says it does not release server code to anyone.
  • Joining a server BULKHEAD classes as an XP-farming server for more than a few minutes is a permanent account ban.

What Are Community Servers in WARDOGS?

Community servers are WARDOGS matches running on hardware rented by players and communities from one of developer BULKHEAD’s approved hosting partners, with a local admin team instead of studio matchmaking. The studio’s own anti-cheat advice is blunt about why they exist: report cheaters on official servers, and “for the ultimate protection, play on community hosted servers where admins can instantly ban bad actors”. Patch 0.11 opened with an admission that “Community Servers have been underserved and the server browser experience as a whole has been poor”, and the fix was structural — two separate browsers rather than one mixed list. BULKHEAD’s framing is that a game this size would realistically run on matchmaking, but it does not want community admins and hosts to suffer. Everything else — End of Match cash, Season 1 XP and unlock levels, your loadout — is the same game you play on official servers, with the bonus-week caveat below.

How to Find and Join a Specific WARDOGS Community Server

The route is the in-game Community browser, and the thing that makes a specific server findable is now its ID. Patch 0.11 states that community server IDs “will now persist, and each server will have its own unique ID so players can join via ID”, with the number “much longer for security reasons” — so an ID a community published before the patch is the short format the patch replaces. Search by name works on the Community tab, and an operator writing during launch week reports that matching happens on a substring, that three or four characters beat pasting a full decorated name, and that the search box keeps its text between sessions and patches — worth clearing before you decide the list is broken. That same source reports the most common reason a browser looks empty: selecting multiple regions at once has been widely reported to return nothing rather than the union of those regions. Server names themselves are now constrained — alphabetical regardless of special characters and numbers, and no more than one space at a time.

Tip

If the Community list comes back empty, select a single region and clear the search box before anything else — multi-region selection returning nothing, and search text persisting across patches, are both reported launch-week behaviours rather than outages.

Step-by-Step: Joining a WARDOGS Community Server by ID

Follow this sequence to get it done fast.

  1. 1

    Open the Community browser

Patch 0.11 splits the front end into two browsers, so pick the Community tab rather than Official.

  2. 2

    Set one region

selecting several regions at once is widely reported to return an empty list instead of the combined one.

  3. 3

    Clear the search field

search text is reported to persist between sessions and between patches, so an old string can hide everything.

  4. 4

    Search a short substring

matching is reported to work on part of the full name, so three or four characters beat a full decorated server title.

  5. 5

    Join by the server's ID

each community server now has its own unique ID that persists between matches and restarts, and it is a much longer number than before.

Why Play on a Community Server Right Now: the 5% Cash Bonus

Soldiers move cautiously through a misty rural village street at dawn.
Illustration: Grinding matches in the quiet hours before dawn

As an apology for underserving community servers, BULKHEAD wrote that “for the next week community servers will offer a bonus 5% End of Match cash bonus”, and added that if you are looking to grind, jump in a community server. That post is dated 12 September 2026, and “the next week” is all the precision BULKHEAD gave — no start hour, no end time, no time zone — so the bonus is a cash bonus (not XP) that runs roughly a week from the 12 September announcement; check the in-game state rather than any date we could print. The patch itself lands in a Patch 0.11 maintenance window and ban rules window on Monday 14 September, when servers go down for approximately one hour; a third-party tracker puts that window at 08:00 UTC, which is the tracker’s detail rather than the studio’s. How the bonus behaves across that window is not something the studio addressed.

The honest cost of the bonus is the calendar, not the grind: if the week runs seven days from 12 September, whatever cash you want out of it has to be earned in about five remaining days — four or five evenings for most people — and after that nobody has said whether the rate drops to zero, stays, or gets extended. If you plan to convert that into gear, our WARDOGS loadout buy order guide covers what to spend the cash on first.

If the hours are the obstacle rather than the fight itself, WARDOGS boosting is run hands-on by a booster from your region.

How to Rent a WARDOGS Server and What the Approved Hosts Charge

There are exactly three: “Community Hosted Servers are available to pre-order now through our 3 Approved Hosting Partners; QONZER, BisectHosting and xREALM”. The studio named QONZER and BisectHosting on 7 September via the official X account and added xREALM on the 8th, and since the Season 1 changelog the in-game Host a server button links straight to the hosting page. Secondary reporting of the studio’s 29 August thread says BULKHEAD does not release its server code to anyone, which means there are no public dedicated-server files and, as far as any published source shows, renting from an approved host is the only route today; a hosting company that does not sell WARDOGS says the same thing independently. Other companies took WARDOGS pre-orders in August without the code — trackers name GTXGaming, Game Host Bros, Survival Servers and Loafhosts — so a booking with them is for a server that cannot exist. Prices are set by the hosts, not the studio, which reportedly takes no revenue share.

Two things to hold onto before paying. QONZER sells by dedicated hardware resources rather than slot count and states it does not limit slots or branding, so the 60/80/100 framing used elsewhere maps onto its resource tiers rather than appearing as slot packages. And the aggregator price lists genuinely conflict: one roundup prints xREALM at $69.99/$79.99/$114.99 with BisectHosting not printing monthly prices, another prints £64.99/£73.99/£105.99 for xREALM and £71.99/£83.99/£95.99 for BisectHosting, and neither matches xREALM’s own “from €59.99”. Read the vendor page, in your own currency, on the day you buy.

Which WARDOGS Community Servers Get Your Account Banned

An empty watchtower stands on a ridge overlooking a hazy valley at dusk.
Illustration: Unseen oversight watching from a distance

The rule is stated plainly in Patch 0.11: BULKHEAD tracks every server you enter, knows which ones are XP-farming servers, and if your account is tracked as joining one of these for more than a few minutes, the account is permanently banned. Discovery is not the target — “if you figure something out and test it once or twice, no biggy, thanks for helping us QA” — but repetition is, and early luck is not evidence of safety, because the studio says its backend data flags abusers shortly after. Do not read that as permission to “have a look”: the rule as written is a permanent ban for being tracked on an XP-farming server for more than a few minutes, and BULKHEAD decides what counts — the only safe number of visits is zero. There are separate tiers for cash-exploit abuse and for making content that tutorialises economy exploits, including a reset of cash and XP to 0 on top of a timed ban — the full three-tier wording is quoted in our Patch 0.11 maintenance and ban rules breakdown.

Recognising a farm server is mostly reading the listing. Public directories today carry rows advertising no-rules grinding — one is described as a “Laid back server to grind with no rules” — and listings that advertise adjusted earnings coefficients; that language is the signal to keep scrolling. A normal community server sells its ruleset, region and admin presence, not your earnings rate, and the 5% bonus applies to community servers generally, so there is no reason to go looking for a modified one. If you are chasing levels rather than cash, our Season 1 XP curve breakdown covers the legitimate side of that.

Warning

More than a few minutes on a server BULKHEAD classes as an XP farm is a permanent account ban, and “I only joined to look” is not a documented defence beyond a one-or-two-time test. Abusing cash exploits also resets cash and XP to 0 alongside a timed ban.

Community Server Features Promised but Not Shipped

Patch 0.11 lists six community-server features as in the pipeline and not in this build: Community server favouriting, Tiered priority queues for Community servers, Message of The Day Prompt, Improved Warmup Activities, AFK kicking during seeding disabling, and Team Switching Controls. The studio says these came from a priority list gathered from communities, are not yet ready, and sit in a short-term quality-of-life track separate from Season 2 content, with no date attached to any of them. For admins that means seeding an empty server is still fought with the tools you have today, and a player who finds a server they like has no in-client way to favourite it — the persistent ID is the workaround. The same patch fixed various cash exploits, addressed more GPU crashes and increased server capacity in Asia.

What is not known

Three things nobody has answered: what happens to the 5% End of Match cash bonus when the week ends, whether cash and XP on community servers count identically to official servers outside the bonus window, and when BULKHEAD’s own RCON admin tool ships or what it exposes. We have not seen that panel, so we are not describing it; BisectHosting’s published description covers its own control panel, not the studio’s tooling. Reporting of the studio’s pre-launch comments says day-one admin control is deliberately limited, starting with map and mode choice, with the RCON date still unpublished.

Consoles

None of this applies on console: WARDOGS is PC-only in Early Access with consoles stated for 2028, there is no console community-server offering, and none of the three partners sells one.

Common Misconceptions About WARDOGS Community Servers

Myth: you can self-host a WARDOGS server if you rent a box

Secondary sources quoting BULKHEAD’s 29 August thread report the studio saying it does not release its server code for anyone to host a server, and an unrelated hosting company states WARDOGS has no public dedicated-server files, so self-hosting is not possible today. No Steam-news primary for that line was found, so treat it as well-corroborated reporting rather than a patch-note quote.

Myth: any host advertising WARDOGS can sell you one

Four companies took WARDOGS pre-orders in August without the server code, and BULKHEAD’s wording — “These providers do not have access to the game or server code as we have been so protective of it” — was aimed at exactly that. Only QONZER, BisectHosting and xREALM are named as Approved Hosting Partners.

Myth: the Official browser still needs filters

Patch 0.11 removed filtering from Official Servers because there are no Official modified game modes; filtering stays a Community-browser concept. If you went looking for a mode filter on the Official tab and could not find it, that is the change, not a bug.

Our Take: Are WARDOGS Community Servers Worth It?

Our Take

Worth playing on, expensive to run, and genuinely risky if you shop for the wrong kind of server.

As a player, the case is easy this week: the studio itself pointed grinders at community servers and attached 5% extra End of Match cash to them, and instant admin bans are a real answer to cheaters while anti-cheat matures. As an admin, it is a different conversation — the cheapest published tier at QONZER is £49.95 a month and the smallest size anyone sells is a 60-slot server — a slot count, not a minimum head count, so six friends can rent one and play on it, they just pay for the capacity, and half the quality-of-life features admins actually want are still on a list with no date. The part that should make you careful is the ban rule: permanent, tracked, and triggered by a few minutes on the wrong server. Read the listing before you click join.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 5% community server cash bonus still active?
It was announced on 12 September 2026 "for the next week" as a bonus to End of Match cash (not XP). No end time or time zone was published, so treat it as running roughly a week from that date and check the in-game state rather than a date printed here.
How do I join a friend's community server directly?
Use its server ID: each community server now has a unique ID that persists between matches and restarts, and the number is much longer than before for security reasons.
Can I run a WARDOGS server on my own PC?
Reporting of the studio's own comments says the server code is not released to anyone, and an independent host states there are no public dedicated-server files, so, as far as published sources show, renting from QONZER, BisectHosting or xREALM is the only route today.
What exactly gets my account banned on a community server?
Being tracked on a server BULKHEAD classifies as an XP-farming server for more than a few minutes is a permanent ban; testing something once or twice is explicitly tolerated, and cash-exploit abuse carries a timed ban plus a reset of cash and XP to 0.
Are there community servers on console?
No — WARDOGS is PC-only in Early Access with consoles stated for 2028, and none of the approved partners sells a console server.
