WARDOGS community servers are player-rented servers with admins who can ban cheaters on the spot. Patch 0.11 — announced 12 September 2026 and deployed in the 14 September maintenance (08:00 UTC) — gave them their own browser tab and, for one week in mid-September, a bonus 5% End of Match cash — a bonus BULKHEAD has not repeated since. This guide separates what the announcement promised from what is live; where we could not verify a feature in the client, it says so. Patch 0.11 also gave every community server a persistent ID you can join by, added text search, and tightened the rules on server names. Update 0.1.2 (30 September) then added a Deploy screen that points players to Infantry Mode and Low-Level community servers. Season 2 (15 October 2026) then added seeding rewards and per-region ping limits, and on 21 October BULKHEAD lowered the ping cap to 175 and started work on region locking. Below: how to find and join one, what Season 2 and the 21 October region controls changed, what renting costs at the five approved hosts, and which servers will get your account permanently banned.

En resumen

  • Patch 0.11 split the front end into Community and Official browsers; Update 0.1.2 (30 September) adds a Deploy screen with Official, Community, Infantry Mode and Low-Level, and brings Advanced Filters back to the Official list.
  • Season 2 (15 October) rewards players who seed empty servers and sets per-region ping limits on Official servers; Community admins will be able to set their own.
  • On 21 October BULKHEAD cut the maximum ping on a server to 175 and began building region locking, so pick servers in your own region.
  • Community Server IDs now persist between matches and restarts, and the number is much longer than before for security reasons.
  • The 5% End of Match cash bonus on community servers ran “for the next week” from 12 September 2026 and is over; neither Update 0.1.2 nor the Season 2 patch notes announce a new one.
  • Renting means one of five approved hosts — QONZER, BisectHosting, xREALM and, since 26 October, GG Host and 1of1 Servers — BULKHEAD has not published server files, and secondary reporting of its 29 August thread says it does not release server code to anyone.
  • Joining a server BULKHEAD classes as an XP-farming server for more than a few minutes is a permanent account ban.

What Are Community Servers in WARDOGS?

Community servers are WARDOGS matches running on hardware rented by players and communities from one of developer BULKHEAD’s approved hosting partners, with a local admin team instead of studio matchmaking. The studio’s own anti-cheat advice is blunt about why they exist: report cheaters on official servers, and “for the ultimate protection, play on community hosted servers where admins can instantly ban bad actors”. Patch 0.11 opened with an admission that “Community Servers have been underserved and the server browser experience as a whole has been poor”, and the fix was structural — two separate browsers rather than one mixed list. BULKHEAD’s framing is that a game this size would realistically run on matchmaking, but it does not want community admins and hosts to suffer. Everything else — End of Match cash, XP and unlock levels, your loadout — is the same game you play on official servers, with the bonus-week caveat below.

How to Find and Join a Specific WARDOGS Community Server

The route is the in-game Community browser, and the thing that makes a specific server findable is now its ID. Patch 0.11 states that community server IDs “will now persist, and each server will have its own unique ID so players can join via ID”, with the number “much longer for security reasons” — so an ID a community published before the patch is the short format the patch replaces. Search by name works on the Community tab, and an operator writing during launch week reports that matching happens on a substring, that three or four characters beat pasting a full decorated name, and that the search box keeps its text between sessions and patches — worth clearing before you decide the list is broken. That same source reports the most common reason a browser looks empty: selecting multiple regions at once has been widely reported to return nothing rather than the union of those regions. Server names themselves are now constrained — alphabetical regardless of special characters and numbers, and no more than one space at a time. The patch notes also add a Show Empty/Full toggle to the browser quick bar and list improved reliability of filtering in the Community browser.

Consejo

If the Community list comes back empty, select a single region and clear the search box before anything else — multi-region selection returning nothing, and search text persisting across patches, are both reported launch-week behaviours rather than outages.

Step-by-Step: Joining a WARDOGS Community Server by ID

Five steps from the Deploy screen to one specific server.

  1. 1

    Hit Deploy and pick Community

Since Update 0.1.2 the Deploy screen offers Official, Community, Infantry Mode and Low-Level; Community opens the community list.

  2. 2

Set one region, the nearest to you

Since 21 October BULKHEAD is cutting the maximum ping on a server to 175 (see the 21 October section below). Selecting several regions at once is widely reported to return an empty list instead of the combined one.

  3. 3

    Clear the search field

Search text is reported to persist between sessions and between patches, so an old string can hide everything.

  4. 4

    Search a short substring

Matching is reported to work on part of the full name, so three or four characters beat a full decorated server title.

  5. 5

    Join by the server's ID

Each community server now has its own unique ID that persists between matches and restarts, and it is a much longer number than before.

Update 0.1.2: The Deploy Screen, Infantry Mode and Low-Level Servers

Update 0.1.2 (30 September 2026) changes how you get to a community server. BULKHEAD calls it “the first step intended to help signpost players toward servers running these modifiers”.

  • Deploy: hit Deploy and choose Official, Community, Infantry Mode or Low-Level servers; gamepad works on that screen.
  • Official list: Advanced Filters are back.
  • Joining: after Join you see that you are connecting, then your place in the queue if there is one; long server names are no longer cut off.
  • Privacy: Anonymous mode now hides the server name on the loading screen, like Streamer mode, and in the pause menu unless you choose to show it.
  • Region select: shows how many regions you have selected.

For server admins the same update adds a daily scheduled restart time (UTC), an RCON AllowedHosts setting, capped RCON message and broadcast lengths, and less detailed RCON responses by default. The notes do not say whether Low-Level servers have a level cap or how a server qualifies for the Infantry Mode or Low-Level list.

The Season 2 notes do not answer either question. The closest official thing to a low-level server so far is Limited Mode Servers, which BULKHEAD announced on X on 15 October 2026 as coming soon: no power weapons and no vehicles. No date was given.

What Season 2 Changed for Community Servers

Season 2 went live on 15 October 2026 with Update 0.2.0. The Season 02 patch notes (14 October) add four things that matter when you pick a server.

  • Seeding rewards: players who join and populate an empty server earn rewards and a vendor discount once the match begins. The notes give no amounts and do not say whether this applies to community servers as well as official ones.
  • Pre-match entertainment: while you wait for the match to start, each spawn has guns lying around with targets, a football and a hidden radio.
  • Ping limits: Official Servers now set a maximum ping per region. BULKHEAD said the first values would be “quite lenient”; on 21 October it cut the maximum to 175 (see below). You are kicked only if you stay over the limit for a sustained period, and server-side lag spikes do not count. After a high-ping kick you cannot rejoin that server until the next map. The server browser now shows maximum-ping tags and has ping filters. The notes say Community Server admins will be able to set their own limits, looser for cross-region play or stricter.
  • Team switching: once a team is more than 10 points ahead, you cannot switch teams again for 15 minutes after joining one. If you switch or join a match in progress, your map stays obscured and the spawn vehicle is locked until you first reach the control zone. The notes do not say whether admins can change this.

21 October: Region Controls and a 175 Ping Cap

On 21 October 2026 BULKHEAD said in an official post on X that it has started controlling regions. What the post says:

  • Ping cap: BULKHEAD said the maximum ping allowed on a server would drop to 175 over the hours after the post.
  • Why: the studio wants to shield most of its players from an influx from regions it describes as more prone to cheating. It says it gave those regions a chance first, that this did not work out, and that splitting players hurts a game built around its social side.
  • Region locking: under way on the backend; BULKHEAD says a real effect takes more than flipping a switch.
  • Mixing regions: the studio will be stricter about players crossing into other regions.

Not stated: which regions are affected, how the lock will work (by IP address, by account or by routing), whether the 175 cap also binds community servers and so whether admins can still set the looser cross-region limits the Season 2 notes promised, and whether a Steam announcement will follow; as of 22 October there is none on Steam. Combined with the Season 2 kick rule above, the practical advice is to play on servers in your own region and to leave one where your ping sits close to 175.

The 5% Community Server Cash Bonus Is Over: What Pays Now

Soldiers move cautiously through a misty rural village street at dawn.
Illustration: Grinding matches in the quiet hours before dawn

As an apology for underserving community servers, BULKHEAD wrote on 12 September 2026 that “for the next week community servers will offer a bonus 5% End of Match cash bonus” and told grinders to jump in a community server. It was a cash bonus, not XP, and “the next week” was all the precision given — no start hour and no end time. That week ended in September. Update 0.1.2 (30 September), the two hotfixes of 2 October and the Season 2 patch notes (14 October) do not mention a community-server cash bonus, so as of 18 October 2026 none is announced. What Season 2 does add is a reward for seeding empty servers, covered above. Whether community-server cash matches official servers outside that week is not stated.

4Promised features missing from the Season 2 notes

What matters for cash now is the season clock. Season 02 started on 15 October 2026, and the in-game Gold Exchange panel, as quoted by community sources, says cash resets at the end of a major update cycle and leftover cash is exchanged for Gold Bars — our Season 2 guide covers what carries over. The next reset may come sooner than a full season: on 17 October BULKHEAD wrote on X that it is looking at “significantly bringing forward Season 3”, with no date yet. If you are turning cash into gear, our WARDOGS loadout buy order guide covers what to buy first.

How to Rent a WARDOGS Server and What the Approved Hosts Charge

There are five. The first three came with the pre-orders: “Community Hosted Servers are available to pre-order now through our 3 Approved Hosting Partners; QONZER, BisectHosting and xREALM”. The studio named QONZER and BisectHosting on 7 September via the official X account and added xREALM on the 8th. On 26 October it approved two more hosting partners, GG Host and 1of1 Servers, and said it will announce more features for server admins soon. Since the Season 1 changelog the in-game Host a server button links straight to the hosting page. Secondary reporting of the studio’s 29 August thread says BULKHEAD does not release its server code to anyone, which means there are no public dedicated-server files and, as far as any published source shows, renting from an approved host is the only route today; a hosting company that does not sell WARDOGS says the same thing independently. Other companies took WARDOGS pre-orders in August without the code — trackers name GTXGaming, Game Host Bros, Survival Servers and Loafhosts — so a booking with them is for a server that cannot exist. Prices are set by the hosts, not the studio, which reportedly takes no revenue share.

Two things to hold onto before paying. QONZER sells by dedicated hardware resources rather than slot count and states it does not limit slots or branding, so the 60/80/100 framing used elsewhere maps onto its resource tiers rather than appearing as slot packages. And the aggregator price lists genuinely conflict: one roundup prints xREALM at $69.99/$79.99/$114.99 with BisectHosting not printing monthly prices, another prints £64.99/£73.99/£105.99 for xREALM and £71.99/£83.99/£95.99 for BisectHosting, and neither matches xREALM’s own “from €59.99”. Read the vendor page, in your own currency, on the day you buy.

Which WARDOGS Community Servers Get Your Account Banned

An empty watchtower stands on a ridge overlooking a hazy valley at dusk.
Illustration: Unseen oversight watching from a distance

The rule is stated plainly in Patch 0.11: BULKHEAD tracks every server you enter, knows which ones are XP-farming servers, and if your account is tracked as joining one of these for more than a few minutes, the account is permanently banned. Discovery is not the target — “if you figure something out and test it once or twice, no biggy, thanks for helping us QA” — but repetition is, and early luck is not evidence of safety, because the studio says its backend data flags abusers shortly after. Do not read that as permission to “have a look”: the rule as written is a permanent ban for being tracked on an XP-farming server for more than a few minutes, and BULKHEAD decides what counts — the only safe number of visits is zero. XP-farm servers are the third and most serious of three economy-abuse tiers in the same post; the other two, for cash exploits and for content that teaches exploits, are set out at the end of this section.

Recognising a farm server is mostly reading the listing. Public directories today carry rows advertising no-rules grinding — one is described as a “Laid back server to grind with no rules” — and listings that advertise adjusted earnings coefficients; that language is the signal to keep scrolling. A normal community server sells its ruleset, region and admin presence, not your earnings rate, and no official post says a modified server pays more, so there is no reason to go looking for one. If you are chasing levels rather than cash, our Season 1 XP curve breakdown covers the legitimate side of that.

Advertencia

More than a few minutes on a server BULKHEAD classes as an XP farm is a permanent account ban, and “I only joined to look” is not a documented defence beyond a one-or-two-time test. Abusing cash exploits also resets cash and XP to 0 alongside a timed ban.

The Three Economy-Abuse Tiers in Patch 0.11

BULKHEAD split its response to economy abuse into three tiers in the Patch 0.11 announcement rather than one blanket rule. The server rule above is only the third of them.

TierWhat triggers itPenalty, in the studio’s words
1Abusing a cash exploit or bugA timed ban whose length depends on prior offences, and “We will reset your cash and XP to 0”
2Posting a guide or video that tutorialises an economy exploit without reporting it first — treated as advertising cheats“Will result in a permanent ban”
3Being tracked joining a known XP-farming server for more than a few minutes“The most serious bans”: “we will ban your account permanently”

The line in tier 2 is between alerting the studio to a bug and actively promoting how to abuse it. For tier 3 the post gives no appeal path and no ban-length range, and it does not define an XP-farming server beyond the servers the studio tracks; nor does it name which exploits were patched beyond “various cash exploits have been fixed”. Update 0.1.2 (30 September) adds that the leniency for first-time offenders is over: players now risk a permanent ban without warning for abusing repeatable exploits.

Community Server Features Promised but Not Shipped

Patch 0.11 lists six community-server features as in the pipeline and not in this build: Community server favouriting, Tiered priority queues for Community servers, Message of The Day Prompt, Improved Warmup Activities, AFK kicking during seeding disabling, and Team Switching Controls. The studio says these came from a priority list gathered from communities, are not yet ready, and sit in a short-term quality-of-life track separate from Season 2 content, with no date attached to any of them. Season 2 ships something close to two of the six. Pre-match entertainment is the nearest thing to Improved Warmup Activities, and team switching is now limited for everyone, though the notes mention no admin controls for it. The other four (favouriting, priority queues, the Message of The Day and the AFK change) are not in the notes; seeding gets a reward instead, covered above. So a player who finds a server they like still has no in-client way to favourite it — the persistent ID is the workaround. Patch 0.11 also fixed various cash exploits, addressed more GPU crashes and increased server capacity in Asia.

What is not known

Three things nobody has answered: whether BULKHEAD will run another community-server cash bonus, whether cash and XP on community servers count identically to official servers, and when BULKHEAD’s own RCON admin tool ships or what it exposes. We have not seen that panel, so we are not describing it; BisectHosting’s published description covers its own control panel, not the studio’s tooling. Reporting of the studio’s pre-launch comments says day-one admin control is deliberately limited, starting with map and mode choice, with the RCON date still unpublished.

Consoles

None of this applies on console: WARDOGS is PC-only in Early Access with consoles stated for 2028, there is no console community-server offering, and none of the approved partners sells one.

Common Misconceptions About WARDOGS Community Servers

Myth: you can self-host a WARDOGS server if you rent a box

Secondary sources quoting BULKHEAD’s 29 August thread report the studio saying it does not release its server code for anyone to host a server, and an unrelated hosting company states WARDOGS has no public dedicated-server files, so self-hosting is not possible today. No Steam-news primary for that line was found, so treat it as well-corroborated reporting rather than a patch-note quote.

Myth: any host advertising WARDOGS can sell you one

Four companies took WARDOGS pre-orders in August without the server code, and BULKHEAD’s wording — “These providers do not have access to the game or server code as we have been so protective of it” — was aimed at exactly that. Only QONZER, BisectHosting, xREALM and, since 26 October, GG Host and 1of1 Servers are named as Approved Hosting Partners.

Myth: the Official browser still needs filters

Patch 0.11 removed filtering from Official Servers because there are no Official modified game modes; filtering stays a Community-browser concept. If you went looking for a mode filter on the Official tab and could not find it, that is the change, not a bug.

Our Take: Are WARDOGS Community Servers Worth It?

Nuestra opinión

Worth playing on, expensive to run, and genuinely risky if you shop for the wrong kind of server.

As a player, the case is simple: instant admin bans are a real answer to cheaters while anti-cheat matures, and since Update 0.1.2 the Deploy screen leads straight to Infantry Mode and Low-Level servers. The 5% cash week is over, so play there for the rules, not for a bonus. As an admin, it is a different conversation — the cheapest published tier at QONZER is £49.95 a month and the smallest size anyone sells is a 60-slot server — a slot count, not a minimum head count, so six friends can rent one and play on it, they just pay for the capacity, and most of the quality-of-life features admins were promised are still not in the patch notes. The part that should make you careful is the ban rule: permanent, tracked, and triggered by a few minutes on the wrong server. Read the listing before you click join.

Preguntas frecuentes

Is the 5% community server cash bonus still active?
No. It was announced on 12 September 2026 "for the next week" as a 5% bonus to End of Match cash (not XP), and that week is over. Neither Update 0.1.2, the 2 October hotfixes nor the Season 2 patch notes (14 October) mention a new one, so none is announced as of 18 October 2026.
How do I join a friend's community server directly?
Use its server ID: each community server now has a unique ID that persists between matches and restarts, and the number is much longer than before for security reasons.
What is the maximum ping on a WARDOGS server now?
175. BULKHEAD announced the cut on X on 21 October 2026, to take effect over the following hours. The post does not name the regions involved or say whether community servers are covered.
Can I run a WARDOGS server on my own PC?
Reporting of the studio's own comments says the server code is not released to anyone, and an independent host states there are no public dedicated-server files, so, as far as published sources show, renting from one of the five approved hosts (QONZER, BisectHosting, xREALM, GG Host or 1of1 Servers) is the only route today.
What exactly gets my account banned on a community server?
Being tracked on a server BULKHEAD classifies as an XP-farming server for more than a few minutes is a permanent ban; testing something once or twice is explicitly tolerated, and cash-exploit abuse carries a timed ban plus a reset of cash and XP to 0.
Are there community servers on console?
No — WARDOGS is PC-only in Early Access with consoles stated for 2028, and none of the approved partners sells a console server.
How do I find Infantry Mode or Low-Level servers in WARDOGS?
Since Update 0.1.2 (30 September 2026), hit Deploy and choose Infantry Mode or Low-Level. The patch notes do not say whether Low-Level servers have a level cap. BULKHEAD has also announced Limited Mode Servers (no power weapons and vehicles) as coming soon, with no date.
