It’s a per-Class system — you prestige Bulwark, Vanguard, Assault, Tactical, Heavy, Sniper or Techmarine individually, not your account as a whole.

Hit Class level 25
level any single Class to its current cap through Operations, Stratagems or Siege — the three PvE modes share one class ladder; Eternal War has its own PvP level and does not count toward it.

What Resets
Whenever you unlock a new prestige perk, it resets your character level to 1, meaning if you want all 4 prestige levels/perks, you have to re-level your character to 25 four times. Alongside the level reset, resetting a class removes previously unlocked perks, requiring players to repurchase them from the standard Class perk tree — that’s separate Requisition spend on top of the prestige activation cost itself.
What Stays the Same
Weapons are unaffected by a prestige reset — your weapon mastery levels carry over untouched. The Prestige Perk itself is also permanent once earned: Hitting Prestige provides players with new opportunities to earn their perks, along with the advantages of having an exclusive and permanent perk associated with prestige. Other Classes you haven’t touched stay exactly where they are, and cosmetics, Requisition, and Armory Data you’ve already banked aren’t wiped.

Only the Class perk tree and that Class’s level reset. Do not confuse this with account-wide progress — nothing about a prestige reset touches your other six Classes, your weapons, or your cosmetic unlocks.

Myth: Prestiging Wipes Your Weapon Progress
It doesn’t. Weapons are unaffected by the reset — only the Class’s own level and its Class perk tree get rolled back. If you’ve sunk time into mastering a specific bolter or chainsword, that progress is safe regardless of how many times you prestige.
Myth: You Can Swap Prestige Perks Whenever You Want
Not until you’ve finished the climb. According to the in-game warning shown when you first select a prestige perk, you can’t change selected perks until you’ve prestiged all 4 times. Pick your first three ranks with that in mind — you’re locked into each choice for the rest of the grind to Prestige 4.

The math is straightforward once you strip out the forum outrage: a stacking XP bonus and a genuinely strong permanent perk are real, useful rewards, and the reset only touches Class level and Class perks — not weapons, not other Classes, not your cosmetics. That’s a much smaller loss than the phrase “full reset” implies on first read.
Where it gets genuinely grindy is doing this on every Class. Re-leveling one Class four times is a commitment; doing it for all seven is a serious time investment, and player accounts of the process range from tolerable to exhausting depending on squad quality and difficulty. If you main Bulwark or Tactical and live in Operations, chasing full Prestige 4 makes sense. If you rotate Classes for variety, level 25 with a couple of purchased perks already gets you the build that matters in combat — the prestige perk is a nice-to-have bonus, not a requirement to stay competitive.
One more note on timing: Patch 14 went live on 28 July 2026, so everything below reflects the post-patch state; nothing announced for Patch 15 (1 October 2026) touches prestige.
