Patch 14 — the Confrontation Update — for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 went live on 28 July 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. It is a PvP-and-Heroic patch: two Eternal War maps, the end of PvP gear progression, six Heroic weapons and four Heroic armour pieces bought with Accolades, a Siege tuning pass and a Techmarine perk fix. This guide separates what Patch 14 changed from what the Purgation Update (Patch 13, 21 May 2026) had already shipped, quotes the numbers Saber printed, and says where the Accolades for the new gear actually come from.
Warning
Saber’s 14.0 notes name the six Heroic weapons and list the balance changes made after the test server; they do not print per-weapon perk text or Accolade prices. Where this guide describes a perk it quotes those buff lines; anything beyond that is player testing and is labelled as such.
TL;DR
- Six Heroic weapons (Thunder Hammer, Power Fist, Bolt Carbine, Melta Rifle, Power Sword, Stalker Bolt Rifle) and four Heroic armour pieces are bought with Accolades.
- Accolades come from the weekly Stratagem cards (125 Normal / 175 Hard), the Siege weekly at wave 15 (50 / 100) and — new in Patch 14 — weekly Eternal War participation. Ordinary Operations completions do not pay Accolades.
- PvP progression is gone: in Eternal War every weapon and piece of equipment is available from level 1.
- Siege: enemy resistance caps 60→72% (regular) and 80→88% (Terminus), Tech Priest income 720 falling to 300 at wave 30+, wave and objective rewards +20%, a Scarab Occult Terminator Sorcerer in every Chaos Operation and in Siege, and the weekly Accolade now paid on reaching wave 15.
- The Purgation Operation, the Hive Tyrant and Mutalith Vortex Beast Siege bosses and Blessings & Atonements are Patch 13 (21 May 2026), not Patch 14.

What Is Patch 14 in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2?
Saber called Patch 14 a smaller update than the two before it. Its list, from the 14.0 notes: two Eternal War maps — Sanctum (medium, open combat areas and fast routes to the central hotspot) and Facility (compact, built for fast rotations); PvP progression removed, so “all weapons and equipment are available from Level 1”; an experimental Team Reshuffle after each match; weekly Accolades for PvP participation; six Heroic weapons and four Heroic armour pieces to unlock with Accolades; robes for Assault and Tactical and tabards for Assault via new Ordeals; Trials of Resolve #2 with four new Ordeals; a Siege tuning pass; a Scarab Occult Terminator Sorcerer — “in every Chaos Operation and throughout Siege mode” per the Confrontation announcement; and one Techmarine fix — the “Methodical Destruction” perk now works with the Prometium Can. The notes say the patch is “very light on perk changes” and promise the Tactical rework for the next update.
What Patch 14 did not add: a new Operation, new Siege bosses or a new class. The Purgation Operation in the Kadaku swamps, the Hive Tyrant and Mutalith Vortex Beast as Siege bosses, Blessings & Atonements and the Siege shop items all shipped with Patch 13 on 21 May 2026, and the Techmarine with Patch 12 on 26 February 2026. Two hotfixes followed Patch 14: 14.1 on 11 August 2026 (Heroic weapon buffs and Ordeal-tracking fixes) and 14.2 on 3 September 2026 (weekly Siege and Eternal War Accolades that were counted on the Lectern of Oaths but not paid).
Hotfix 14.1 (11 August 2026): What Changed
Hotfix 14.1 was a cleanup pass: no new weapons, maps or modes. Four Heroic weapons were adjusted in PvE — the Deathwatch Stalker Bolt Rifle, the Combi-Flamer, the Combi-Melta and the Deathwatch Power Fist — and the numbers are in the Heroic weapons section below. The fix that mattered most was ammunition: the secondary barrels of the Combi-Flamer and Combi-Melta had not been restocking from Ammo Crates, which made the flamer and melta modes close to a one-use trick per life on longer missions. The Power Fist change was about access rather than raw damage: the melta blast fires after a single charge in hold stance instead of a full one, and the delayed light-attack follow-up does slightly more damage.
The Scarab Occult Terminator Sorcerer, the Thousand Sons Terminus enemy Patch 14 added, got two changes. The delay before its follow-up double beam attack is longer, which the notes tie to the slower dodge-roll animations from a recent patch, and its teleport ability deals significantly reduced damage — before the hotfix that teleport strike was one of the harder surprise hits in Chaos Operations and Siege. Its beam attacks were otherwise left alone, so it remains a priority target.
The rest of the hotfix was bug fixes:
- The Battlefield Conditions “Squad Unity” and “Split Up” had their radius values swapped, so they punished or rewarded the wrong positioning.
- Tactical’s “Kraken Penetrator Rounds” perk was wrongly granting penetration to projectile-based weapons.
- The “Come Prepared” Battlefield Condition was not granting the squad its 10 stimms.
- Ordeals did not track for players who joined a Siege run already in progress on the first sector, and weekly Siege Ordeal progression sometimes miscounted.
- Several issues with server-side mods on Steam Workshop were fixed, along with unspecified crashes.
The Six New Heroic Weapons in Patch 14
The six Heroic weapons added in Patch 14 are a Thunder Hammer, a Power Fist, a Bolt Carbine, a Melta Rifle, a Power Sword and a Stalker Bolt Rifle. All six are bought with Accolades. The notes do not print the per-weapon perk text or the prices, but the post-test-server buff list names five of them and describes what each perk does: the Salamanders Power Sword (max stacks 5→6, stacks per perfect parry 1→3), the Combi-Flamer Bolt Carbine (bolter damage +20%, faster flamer burn build-up), the Deathwatch Stalker Bolt Rifle (body shots to trigger its auspex scan 5→4, headshot multiplier raised), the Salamanders Melta Rifle (damage +10%, longer fall-off range) and the Deathwatch Power Fist (direct melta-blast damage “greatly increased”, slightly wider area). The sixth line in that list is the Lord Executioner’s Axe, which “now properly restores contested health” — our reading is that this is the Thunder Hammer slot’s entry, but the notes do not say so in words.
Hotfix 14.1 (11 August 2026) moved four of them again, all in PvE: the Deathwatch Stalker Bolt Rifle now needs 3 body shots (from 4) to trigger the scan and the scan radius grew from 8 to 10 metres; the Combi-Flamer’s flamer barrel charges faster, its bolter barrel does 10% more and the flamer ammunition refills from Ammo Crates; the Combi-Melta’s melta barrel refills from crates again; and the Deathwatch Power Fist fires its melta blast from a single charge in the hold stance. A Heroic weapon is a variant with its own perk, not a new slot: the Deathwatch Stalker is a Stalker Bolt Rifle and goes where a Stalker goes (Tactical, Sniper); the Salamanders Melta Rifle goes where a Melta Rifle goes (Tactical, Vanguard).
Tip
Read the perk before you buy: every one of these rewards a condition — perfect parries, body shots before headshots, staying inside melta range. Players who ignore the condition report the Heroic falling behind a Relic-tier base gun; the notes do not give a comparison, so test one run each before committing Accolades.
| Weapon (slot) | Named variant in the notes | What the notes say about its perk | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power Sword (melee) | Salamanders Power Sword | Stacking buff: max stacks 5→6, stacks per perfect parry 1→3 | Bulwark |
| Bolt Carbine (primary) | Combi-Flamer Bolt Carbine | Two barrels: bolter damage +20% (14.0) and +10% (14.1); flamer burn builds faster; flamer ammo refills at crates (14.1) | Tactical, Sniper |
| Stalker Bolt Rifle (primary) | Deathwatch Stalker Bolt Rifle | Body shots trigger an auspex scan: 5→4 (14.0), 4→3 (14.1); scan radius 8→10 m; higher headshot multiplier | Tactical, Sniper |
| Melta Rifle (primary) | Salamanders Melta Rifle | Damage +10%, longer fall-off range | Tactical, Vanguard |
| Power Fist (melee) | Deathwatch Power Fist | Melta blast on the fist: damage “greatly increased”, wider area; single hold-stance charge fires it (14.1) | Assault, Bulwark |
| Thunder Hammer (melee) | Not named in the notes (our reading: the Lord Executioner’s Axe line) | “Now properly restores contested health” is the only printed line | Assault |

Siege Mode: What Was Patch 13 and What Patch 14 Tuned
The Siege bosses and the progression revamp are Patch 13. The 13.0 notes put the Hive Tyrant and Mutalith Vortex Beast on the boss waves — every fifth wave: 5, 10, 15 and on — added the Shrine, where “every 5 waves” the squad receives a permanent Blessing while Atonements shift, reworked the timer so a triggered timer makes enemies stronger instead of ending the run, and added two random side objectives and new Requisition Terminal items (Tarantula Sentry Gun and its upgrade, Tech-priest, Minefield, Disciplined Reinforcements, Techmarine, Explosive Resupply). Player reports of the bosses in tight arenas are mixed: the Mutalith struggles with geometry and can pin one player, the Hive Tyrant less so.
Patch 14 tuned that mode rather than rebuilding it: enemy damage-resistance caps rose from 60% to 72% for regular enemies and from 80% to 88% for Terminus, the Tech Priest’s income was cut from unlimited to 720 for the team, falling to 300 from wave 30, wave-completion and objective rewards went up 20%, a Scarab Occult Terminator Sorcerer joined as a Terminus-class miniboss (it also appears in every Chaos Operation), and the weekly Accolade is now granted on reaching wave 15 rather than surviving it. Hotfix 14.1 fixed Ordeal tracking for players who join mid-run and the weekly Siege Ordeal counter; 14.2 fixed the weekly Accolade not being paid.
Classes for a long Siege run
The one class change in this patch is the Techmarine fix — “Methodical Destruction” now works with the Prometium Can — which makes its area denial more consistent in the swarm waves. Beyond that the notes rank nothing, so the following is our own reading of the mode: Bulwark remains the anchor for pub groups through its banner, Techmarine holds a lane with turret uptime, Assault thins hordes before boss waves, and Sniper and Tactical carry the burst on the Hive Tyrant. Heavy’s lack of mobility is felt in the tighter arenas; note that the Heroic Melta Rifle is a Tactical/Vanguard weapon and does nothing for Heavy, which carries the Multi-Melta.
Step-by-Step: Clearing Siege Mode Wave 15+ with Major Bosses
Follow this sequence to get it done fast.
-
1
Pick defensive Blessings early
Prioritize armor, healing, or ammo regeneration in waves 1-10 to build a resource cushion before bosses arrive.
-
2
Reroll harmful Atonements early
Atonements shift every five waves alongside the Blessing (13.0 notes); by player reports a reroll costs the run’s own income, so decide before a boss wave whether a friendly-fire or cooldown penalty is worth carrying.
-
3
Spend the Requisition Terminal before boss waves
The Patch 13 shop sells the Tarantula Sentry Gun and its upgrade, a Tech-priest, a Minefield, Disciplined Reinforcements, a Techmarine and an Explosive Resupply — all paid with the run’s own income, not your account Requisition, and since Patch 14 the Tech-priest returns 720 falling to 300 by wave 30. Place turrets and mines at the choke that feeds the boss arena.
-
4
Focus the Hive Tyrant’s exposed sections
Players report the Siege Hive Tyrant runs its first-phase pattern only; concentrate fire on the exposed armour rather than spreading damage across the wave.
-
5
Kite the Mutalith Vortex Beast away from tight corners
In some areas the Mutalith simply doesn't have room to maneuver and can continuously pummel one player; drag it to open ground and spread out to avoid AoE warp attacks.
-
6
Coordinate ability cooldowns for burst windows
Use Sniper's ability, Bulwark's banner, and Techmarine's turret in sequence to maintain constant pressure without downtime.
Where the Accolades for Heroic Gear Actually Come From
Heroic weapons and armour are bought with Accolades, and Accolades are weekly and daily targets, not per-mission loot. Running the Purgation Operation on Ruthless pays class XP, Requisition and Armoury Data like any other Operation — it does not pay Accolades unless it appears on a Stratagem card. The printed numbers: weekly Stratagem cards pay 125 on Normal and 175 on Hard, and the weekly total excluding dailies is 450 (13.0 notes); the Siege weekly pays 50 on Normal and 100 on Hard for reaching wave 15 (13.0, trigger changed in 14.0); daily Stratagems pay 10 and 15 by community reports; Patch 14 added weekly Accolades for Eternal War participation; and timed events add lump sums (the late-August Chaos event paid 100 Accolades and 150 Requisition for three Chaos PvE missions). Progress shows on the Lectern of Oaths in the Battle Barge.
So the weekly routine for Heroic gear is three checks, not one farm: clear the Stratagem weeklies (Hard if the squad can), reach wave 15 in Siege once on the highest difficulty you hold, and play the PvP participation weekly. Accolade prices per Heroic item are not printed in the notes; players quote several hundred per weapon, so budget in weeks rather than sessions.
Not everyone has the evenings for this — Space Marine 2 boosting covers the same ground with someone else on the keys.
Heroic Weapons vs Relic Gear: Conditional, Not Better
Heroic weapons are variants with a conditional perk, not a fifth rarity tier. Base weapons climb Standard → Master-Crafted → Artificer → Relic through weapon XP and Armoury Data, and each step is a flat improvement. A Heroic sits beside that ladder: the Deathwatch Stalker Bolt Rifle needs body shots before its scan triggers, the Salamanders Power Sword wants perfect parries, the Salamanders Melta Rifle wants melta range. Played to the condition, players report them ahead of their Relic base gun; played like a normal gun, behind it. The notes print the perk changes but no comparison, so treat “outclasses” as a player claim about a specific build, never a blanket rule.
The practical result is that Heroic weapons push you toward class synergy: the Deathwatch Power Fist on a Bulwark that can afford to stand in the blast, the Salamanders Melta Rifle on a Vanguard that is already in the enemy’s face, the Deathwatch Stalker on a Sniper who lands the body shots on purpose. Relic base gear remains the right pick for players who want unconditional performance.

Common Misconceptions About Patch 14
Misconception: Kadaku Swamps and the Siege Bosses Are New in Patch 14
The Purgation Operation in the Kadaku swamps and the Siege revamp — Hive Tyrant, Mutalith Vortex Beast, Blessings & Atonements, the new shop items — shipped in Patch 13 on 21 May 2026. Patch 14 adds six Heroic weapons, four Heroic armour pieces, two PvP maps, the Sorcerer in Chaos Operations and Siege, and the Siege tuning pass, and takes PvP progression out. Players returning after a break conflate the two because both are endgame patches; the dates are two months apart.
Misconception: Heroic Weapons Are Always Better Than Relic Gear
They are conditionally better. Ignore the condition — body shots for the Deathwatch Stalker, perfect parries for the Salamanders Power Sword, melta range for the Salamanders Melta Rifle — and players report a Relic base weapon doing the steadier job. The advantage is in the build, not in the item.
Misconception: Operations Farm Accolades
They do not. Accolades come from weekly Stratagem cards, the Siege wave-15 weekly, weekly PvP participation and events. An Operation only pays Accolades when it is the Stratagem of the day or week, and then it pays the card’s amount, not a per-run drop. Per-weapon Accolade prices are not printed in the notes.
Our Take: Is Patch 14 Worth Coming Back For?
Our Take
Patch 14 is the best reason to log in weekly since Siege launched, and the worst patch to read second-hand.
The Heroic line does what endgame builds needed: a reason to play a weapon differently rather than a bigger number on the same weapon, and a currency with a weekly rhythm instead of a grind. Taking gear progression out of Eternal War is the other half of that — a new account now loses on skill, not on unlocks. The Techmarine fix is small and correct.
The rough edges are real. The Mutalith Vortex Beast in tight Siege arenas still draws the most complaints of anything in the mode, the notes still do not print per-weapon perk text or Accolade prices, and 14.2 had to fix Accolades that were counted but not paid. Half the guides written in the first week — including an earlier version of this one — sent readers to farm Accolades in the Purgation Operation, which never paid them.
If you play PvE weekly, the routine is short: Stratagem weeklies, one Siege run to wave 15, and pick the Heroic that matches how you already play. If you left during the Purgation meta, this patch alone is not the reason to return — Patch 15 on 1 October 2026 (the Tactical rework, Chaos Siege on Avarax and the Crucible mode, per Focus) is the one that changes how the classes play.
