The September 2026 Overwatch Team Drive runs from September 4 at 11 AM PT until September 7 at 11 AM PT. During this 72-hour Competitive event, winning can automatically group you with your teammates, consecutive team victories increase your Fame bonus, and Fame advances the event’s Gladiator Ranks. Completing the Team Drive also requires passing The Trial by winning three of your last four matches.

Exact end time

Some Blizzard posts describe the event as running September 4–6, but the official August 11 patch notes give the precise closing time: September 7 at 11 AM PT.

Blizzard’s September 4 event announcement states that players must finish their Competitive placements before participating. If you still need to place, Neonsect’s Overwatch Competitive ranks guide explains the standard skill-tier system.

The same route is available as Overwatch boosting for anyone who would rather not sit the grind out twice.

How auto-grouping and Fame work

You can enter a Team Drive alone, with friends, or as a full group. After a victory, the game automatically groups the winning players for the next queue. Consecutive victories with that team grant an increasing Fame bonus, helping each player progress through the Gladiator Ranks.

Leaving the group does not erase your individual bonus. However, Blizzard says you will no longer benefit from the bonuses carried by the other players from that winning team. This makes remaining together more valuable when the group is performing well, while still allowing players to leave and continue alone.

Players who do not want to use the feature can disable Enable Auto-Grouping on Team Drive Wins under Social → General → Groups. Solo participation remains possible, although Blizzard describes completing the event without frequently receiving other winners’ bonuses as considerably harder.

Fame is the Team Drive equivalent of Drive Score. It advances Gladiator Ranks, which Blizzard compares to the checkpoints used in standard Competitive Drives. Gladiator Ranks are event progression milestones rather than additions to the normal Competitive skill tiers. For more on the standard event format, see Neonsect’s Overwatch Competitive Drives guide.

How The Trial's three-of-four rule works

Advancing through Gladiator Ranks is not the only completion requirement. Blizzard says a Team Drive can be completed only by passing The Trial, which requires three wins among your last four Team Drive matches.

This is a recent-results condition, not a cumulative requirement to earn any three victories during the event. A four-match record of three wins and one loss satisfies the rule; a current four-match record containing two losses does not. Players who postpone The Trial until the closing stages risk running out of opportunities to change the four matches included in that record.

Practical approach

Finish your placements early, keep auto-grouping enabled if you are comfortable using it, and remain with a team that is winning consistently. Blizzard also allows you to assemble a full group of friends instead of relying on automatic grouping.

Team Drive rewards

Team Drives award Competitive Points and Player Card Frames. The patch notes do not list the Competitive Point total or how the rewards are divided among the Gladiator Ranks.

Player Card Frames are separate from the Signatures awarded by regular Competitive Drives. Signatures decorate a player’s displayed name, while Team Drive frames appear wherever that player’s Player Card is shown.

The first 10,000 players to complete the Team Drive by passing The Trial also receive a temporary dynamic title displaying their completion order. Blizzard says these titles will unlock at the end of the event. The title is an additional reward and should not be confused with the Player Card Frame.

Details Blizzard has not published

The official patch notes explain the core system but do not provide several numerical details. Blizzard has not published an exact base Fame award per victory, the complete Fame bonus curve, the number or thresholds of the Gladiator Ranks, or the event’s total Competitive Point payout.

No subsequent Team Drive date is confirmed in the cited announcements. Exact figures circulating through datamines or community posts should therefore be treated as unofficial unless Blizzard adds them to the game or publishes updated documentation.
