Anomaly Arbitration in Honkai: Star Rail requires Equilibrium Level 6 and maximum stars on the highest level of Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction and Apocalyptic Shadow. Those clears can come from different versions. This guide explains the unlock chain, the three Knight stages and King in Check, reward types, and the Version 4.6 theme, Return to Roots.
TL;DR
- Unlock: Equilibrium Level 6 plus maximum stars on the highest level of Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction and Apocalyptic Shadow; records from different versions count.
- Each phase has three Knight stages and one King in Check stage. Prepare three separate Knight teams.
- Plight is a King in Check difficulty. Defeating it directly also awards all Knight-stage rewards.
- Rewards include Lone Stardust, Interference Keys, Self-Modeling Resin and avatar frames that are usable only during the current Arbitration period.
- The 4.6 theme is Return to Roots. Check the current reward screen for exact quantities.
Optional prerequisite service: the Challenges starting price of $5.29 applies to One challenge, not all three unlock records. All current challenges is listed at $19.39; choose the required scope in the configurator. This does not include Equilibrium progression or Anomaly Arbitration itself.
Challenges
Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction and Apocalyptic Shadow cleared on your own roster for full star rewards, the exact clears this unlock requires.
What Is Anomaly Arbitration in Honkai: Star Rail?
Anomaly Arbitration is a permanent, periodically refreshed high-difficulty mode introduced in Version 3.6. Its tab appears under Treasures Lightward in the Interastral Peace Guide. The official Anomaly Arbitration Gameplay Guide confirms three Knight stages and one King in Check stage per phase.
| Stage type | What it is |
|---|---|
| Knight trial stages (3) | Three different character teams; clear them first to weaken the King. |
| King in Check (final) | Any team; star rating determines the limited-time frame. Plight is a difficulty of this stage. |
Teams, retries and the Plight shortcut
Use three separate teams for the Knight stages, in any order. The King stage allows any team. Clearing the Knights first weakens the King; alternatively, a direct win against King in Check on Plight difficulty grants three-star credit and all rewards for the Knight stages.
Plan equipment before starting: moving a Light Cone or Relic out of another team’s recorded clear can reset that team’s stage progress. Reorganizing a cleared Knight lineup also resets its current progress. Your best battle record survives a reset, but stars from separate attempts at the same Knight stage cannot be combined.
Before the King fight, choose an Arbitral Quadrant buff and read the enemy traits. Each combat has a cycle limit; reaching the unlock requirements does not guarantee a clear.
Where to Unlock Anomaly Arbitration: Requirements Table
The Version 3.6 update post sets two requirements: Equilibrium Level ≥6 and maximum stars in the highest level of the three modes. Community wikis add the in-game chain: finish the Trailblaze Mission “Trial of Equilibrium: Part Six”, hold the full-star records, complete the Adventure Mission “Knot-Tier Saga”, then speak to the Voice of the Arbitrator. That is the Fandom wiki’s description, so treat the mission names as community-reported details; this guide does not claim an independently tested in-game walkthrough. Equilibrium Level and the Challenges clears are separate gates, and one does not raise the other.
| Gate | Condition | Evidence class |
|---|---|---|
| Equilibrium Level | 6 or higher | Official 3.6 post |
| Memory of Chaos | Max stars, highest level; wiki says Stage 12 | Official, stage from community |
| Pure Fiction | Max stars, highest level; wiki says Stage 4 | Official, stage from community |
| Apocalyptic Shadow | Max stars, highest level; wiki says Difficulty 4 | Official, stage from community |
| Knot-Tier Saga | Adventure Mission that unlocks the mode | Community wiki |
| Access point | Voice of the Arbitrator, reportedly in the Party Car | Community wiki and guide |
Step-by-Step: How to Unlock Anomaly Arbitration

-
1
Reach Equilibrium Level 6
Community sources tie this to Trailblaze Level 65 and the mission "Trial of Equilibrium: Part Six".
-
2
Full-star Memory of Chaos
Get maximum stars on the highest level, which community sources name as Stage 12.
-
3
Full-star Pure Fiction
Get maximum stars on the highest level, named by community sources as Stage 4.
-
4
Full-star Apocalyptic Shadow
Get maximum stars on the highest level, named by community sources as Difficulty 4; steps 2 – 4 may come from different versions.
-
5
Complete Knot-Tier Saga
The Fandom wiki lists this Adventure Mission as the one that unlocks the mode once Part Six and the records are in place.
-
6
Talk to the Voice of the Arbitrator
The NPC is reported to stand in the Party Car on the Astral Express.
Do You Have to Wait for the Next Rotation?
You do not have to earn all three qualifying records in the same version. If one record is missing, you can attempt that mode’s currently open phase. Missing an expired phase does not, by itself, force a wait until another reset. Whether your roster can earn maximum stars under the current enemy lineup is a separate question.
Version 4.6 snapshot, checked 28 October 2026: the official update details give the following windows. All times are server time.
| Mode and phase | Window |
|---|---|
| Memory of Chaos: Crossing the Afterlife | After the 4.6 update – 2 November 2026, 03:59 |
| Apocalyptic Shadow: Dominance of Oblivion | 5 October, 04:00 – 16 November 2026, 03:59 |
| Pure Fiction: Imagined Words | 19 October, 04:00 – 30 November 2026, 03:59 |
| Next Memory of Chaos: Survival of the Fittest | 2 November, 04:00 – 14 December 2026, 03:59 |
All three prerequisite modes have an open phase on 28 October. The first 4.6 Memory of Chaos phase lasts five weeks; do not assume every phase lasts six weeks. These are prerequisite-mode dates, not a separate Arbitration timetable.
Service scope
The linked Challenges service covers prerequisite-mode clears, not Anomaly Arbitration. At the time of this check, $5.29 is the One challenge option; All current challenges is $19.39. Confirm the selected scope and your roster in the configurator. A Challenges order does not raise Equilibrium Level or include an Arbitration clear.
Anyone who would rather not spend the evenings on it can hand Honkai Star Rail boosting to our crew instead — same account, same progress, played by hand.
Anomaly Arbitration Rewards and What You Unlock

How the rewards are awarded
Knight clears and star milestones are separate reward conditions. The official gameplay guide lists Lone Stardust and Self-Modeling Resin for Knight progress, and frames, Interference Keys and Self-Modeling Resin for King in Check star ratings. The frame can be used only during the current Anomaly Arbitration period.
The official 3.6 and 4.6 update posts and gameplay guide do not publish a numerical reward table. Check the current in-game reward screen before budgeting a full clear; older community totals should not be treated as a verified 4.6 payout.
Gift of Stardust shop
The 3.6 announcement listed the pet Complainer, the Pom-Pom outfit Sweet Dreams! Pajamas Set, the AwooAwoo and Fast Furynuts avatars, the Skypillar namecard and Tears of Dreams. This is the launch list; check current shop stock before spending Lone Stardust.
| Reward | How you get it | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Lone Stardust | Knight clear and star rewards | Redeemed in the "Gift of Stardust" shop |
| Interference Key | King in Check star rewards | Prevents one selected subsidiary stat from receiving enhancements during a Variable Dice reroll |
| Self-Modeling Resin | Knight progress and King in Check star rewards | Used to specify Relic stats in Customized Synthesis |
| Limited-time avatar frames | King in Check star rating | Usable only during the current Anomaly Arbitration period |
| Stellar Jade | Not listed in the official reward sources checked here | Do not assume a Jade payout when planning pulls |

What Still Needs an In-Game Check
The four-stage structure and Plight shortcut are documented in the official gameplay guide. Exact current reward quantities and shop stock still need the current game screen. Trailblaze Level 65, the Knot-Tier Saga mission and the NPC location above are community-reported unlock details; they have not been tested in the game client for this article.
Common Misconceptions About Anomaly Arbitration
“Three full-star clears are the only requirement”
You also need Equilibrium Level 6. Community unlock instructions additionally point to Knot-Tier Saga.
“All three records must be from the same version”
HoYoverse explicitly allows clears from different versions.
“Plight is a fifth stage”
Each phase has three Knight stages and one King stage. Plight is a difficulty of King in Check, with a direct-clear shortcut for Knight rewards.
“The avatar frame is permanent”
The official guide limits its use to the current Anomaly Arbitration period.
“It is another Stellar Jade farm”
The official sources checked here list cosmetics and relic-related rewards, without listing Stellar Jade. Do not plan pulls around an assumed Arbitration Jade payout.
Our Take: Is Anomaly Arbitration Worth Chasing?
Chase it for the listed cosmetics and relic materials if your roster is ready.
Unlocking access is only the first step: Arbitration itself is a demanding challenge. Plan three Knight teams and their equipment, choose a King-stage buff, and decide whether the current rewards justify the effort for your account. The avatar frame expires with the period; check the current reward screen before committing resources.
