Genshin Impact Version 7.2, “Hour of Ruin”, is scheduled for 4 November 2026, and the “Myriad Patterns Unfold” Event Wish with “Rules Set at Naught” Mitya (Electro) opens after that update, according to the HoYoverse Character Skill Showcase post of 27 October. The patch also brings a Furina rerun, a Natlan Chronicled Wish and several free Primogem rewards, plus a free 4-star character of your choice. Below: the banners by half, Mitya’s kit as HoYoverse has shown it, the free rewards, and what is still not announced.
TL;DR
- Preview – scheduled for 4 November 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and mobile; nothing here is live yet.
- First half: Mitya and Furina Event Wishes, with 4-star Valeriy boosted on both, plus the new 5-star Catalyst Starsealed Edict on the Weapon banner.
- Second half: Zibai and Linnea return. A Natlan Chronicled Wish (Varesa, Chasca, Xilonen, Mualani, Kinich) also runs in 7.2; HoYoverse has not said in which half.
- Announced free rewards: 560 Primogems for the Archon Quest, 400 Primogems for exploring the new area, and a free 4-star pick from The Grand Defense. Finishing “Test Run” and Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act VI in time gives some of Mitya’s Ascension Materials, enough for Level 60, not 90.
- Out since 27 October: Mitya’s kit outline and material icons (Skill Showcase). Not announced: the names and counts of his new materials, his numbers, the official phase-change date and the full event list with dates.
Events
Limited-time events cleared before they expire, for their Primogems, event currency and exclusive rewards.
What Is Genshin Impact Version 7.2 Hour of Ruin?

Version 7.2 is the next update to Genshin Impact, made by HoYoverse, which also publishes the game. It is titled “Hour of Ruin” and continues the Snezhnaya story. The Nails of Retribution awaken across Teyvat, and representatives from all seven nations converge on Snezhnaya to coordinate containment. It adds a new eastern Snezhnaya area built around Novokitezhgrad, an underground mining city, and Old Kitezhgrad, the founding city consumed by the Shadow Realm. Mitya is described by HoYoverse as an Energy Commission advisor who is a researcher and capable in combat. Players care because it bundles a new 5-star, three reruns and several free Primogem sources into one version. The table shows the banners as announced in the 23 October Special Program, with timecodes in the official video (21:08 – 21:41).
Press recaps put Phase 1 at 4 – 24 November and Phase 2 at 24 November – 15 December, as a wiki compilation of the Special Program lists them; that is our reading of the schedule, not a date in HoYoverse’s text post. Valeriy’s weapon type is not stated in the Special Program, and press recaps disagree: one lists a Sword, another a Claymore. Check his profile in game once 7.2 is live. For how the previous patch handled its two debut banners, see the Genshin Impact 7.1 launch and banner guide.
| Banner | Half of 7.2 | Featured |
|---|---|---|
| Myriad Patterns Unfold (Event Wish) | First | Mitya, new 5-star Electro |
| Furina Event Wish | First | Furina, 5-star Hydro rerun |
| Valeriy rate-up | First | 4-star boost on both banners |
| Weapon banner | First | Starsealed Edict, 5-star Catalyst |
| Zibai and Linnea Event Wishes | Second | Both 5-star Geo reruns |
| Natlan Chronicled Wish | During 7.2 | Varesa, Chasca, Xilonen, Mualani, Kinich |
Where the grind outlasts the interest, Genshin Impact boosting picks it up from wherever the account already stands.
Mitya’s Kit: What HoYoverse Has Shown
HoYoverse’s Character Skill Showcase of 27 October lays out how Mitya plays. Numbers come later: the post says more details can be viewed in game after the Version 7.2 update.
- Stellar-Conduct. With Mitya in the party, two elemental reactions (shown by icon in the infographic) become Stellar-Conduct reactions and generate Gradient Beacons for him to carry, up to 4. Spending Beacons deals AoE Electro DMG counted as Stellar-Conduct reaction DMG, and the showcase lists a Stellar-Conduct reaction base DMG boost.
- Building Beacons. After a Stellar-Conduct reaction they keep accumulating for a while; his Elemental Burst adds 3 at once.
- Off-field (tap Skill). At the limit he spends extra Beacons automatically for more DMG, and the rest detonate when the core leaves the field.
- On-field (hold Skill, then hold the attack). The longer the hold, the more Beacons are spent and the more hits land; the suggested order is hold Skill, Burst, hold.
- Talents shown. Each Beacon from a tapped Skill raises the party’s Elemental Mastery, and with a held Skill one Stellar-Conduct reaction gives 4 Beacons. Beacons last longer and briefly raise his CRIT Rate. A larger Polestar Field follows the character. In parts of Snezhnaya his tapped Skill clears rocks, and what they drop is exchanged for an “Energy Glow” accessory at Novokitezhgrad’s Antykvariat.
His materials
The “Research Supplies” panel shows four Ascension Material icons, two of them marked NEW, and three Talent Level-Up Material icons. The post does not name the new items or give counts, so we do not guess them from the icons. Its footnote: completing “Test Run” and Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act VI within the set time gives certain Ascension Materials, enough to take him to Level 60. That is a head start, not the full climb to 90, and not a free Mitya.
Where to Get Mitya and the Free 7.2 Rewards
Mitya himself is a 5-star Event Wish character, so the route to him is the “Myriad Patterns Unfold” banner after the 4 November update. None of the announcements checked describe a free copy of Mitya. What the quests give is some of his Ascension Materials, which is a different thing from the character: per the Skill Showcase, finishing “Test Run” and Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act VI within the set time gives materials for Level 60, not the full set for 90. The Primogem rewards come from two time-limited tasks: finishing the 7.2 Archon Quest and exploring the new eastern Snezhnaya area. The Archon Quest is the gate to the flagship event too, and our Archon Quest order and AR requirements guide covers what it asks of an account in general. According to the official video, The Grand Defense operations unlock once the 7.2 Archon Quest reaches a certain point, and a Quick Start is available.
| Source | What you get | Requirement | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Myriad Patterns Unfold | Chance at Mitya | Wishes after 4 Nov update | Anyone chasing Mitya |
| 7.2 Archon Quest | 560 Primogems; with “Test Run”, Mitya materials to Lv. 60 | Finish within time limit | Every account |
| New eastern Snezhnaya area | 400 Primogems | Explore within time limit | Explorers |
| The Grand Defense | Primogems, materials, 4-star pick | Lower Hallowing threat | Combat players |
| Secret Tsarist Assignments | Snezhnaya wind glider | Complete the latest set | Cosmetic hunters |
| Miliastra Wonderland events | Free 4-star outfit set | Through events | Wonderland players |
How to Collect the Free 7.2 Rewards: Methods Compared
These are separate tasks with separate conditions, listed in the order the Special Program presents them. They have not been tested, since none of them is live.
Tip
Read the deadline on each in-game notice before starting: the time limits for the Archon Quest and the exploration reward are set in the game, not in HoYoverse’s text post.
Cost in time: the two time-limited tasks add up to 960 Primogems (560 + 400), which is six wishes at 160 Primogems each; the 160 figure is general game knowledge, unverified here. The announcements give no hour count for the Archon Quest or the exploration, so the real time cost is whatever your account needs to clear them inside the in-game deadline; resin is not part of it, but our Genshin resin guide covers the separate material grind that follows.
| You want | Condition | Limit | Where to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 560 Primogems; Mitya materials to Lv. 60 | Finish Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act VI (materials also need “Test Run”) | Time limit | In-game notice |
| 400 Primogems | Explore new eastern area | Time limit | In-game notice |
| Free 4-star character | Lower the Hallowing threat | Combat zones time-limited | Event page |
| Snezhnaya wind glider | Latest Secret Tsarist Assignments | Not stated | In-game notice |
Quests
Archon Quest acts from $10.99 each, Story and World quests from $2.69, gated exploration steps included.
Hour of Ruin Rewards and What You Unlock
Both figures come from the official program (11:58 and 28:29). It gives no Primogem total for The Grand Defense, only “Primogems and enhancement materials”.
The Grand Defense: Defy the Unjust Judgment
The flagship event has three operations: “Emergency Rescue”, “Securing Air Supremacy” (Favonius Falcons) and “Tactical Sweep”. Rewards include Primogems, enhancement materials and a 4-star character of your choice once the Hallowing threat decreases to a certain level. The official program shows the eight choices on screen at 34:43: Amber, Xiangling, Thoma, Collei, Lynette, Kachina, Aino and Alyosha. It also says the operations tied to the combat zones are time-limited, while the content outside them stays in later versions (34:21). Game8 reports the operations running until 16 December; HoYoverse has not given that date. The Archon Quest content to reach it is covered by the Chapter VII unlock guide for the earlier acts.
Wind glider and the Miliastra Wonderland outfit set
Completing the latest Secret Tsarist Assignments yields a Snezhnaya-themed wind glider. Miliastra Wonderland adds a free 4-star outfit set obtained through events, and the “Miliastra Wonderland: Moments to Treasure” web event begins on 27 November.
Not announced yet: the names and counts of Mitya’s new materials, the official phase-change date, event dates and the full event list; there are also no redemption codes beyond the three the Special Program already gave out.
| Reward | How you get it | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 560 Primogems | 7.2 Archon Quest in time limit | Wish currency |
| Mitya Ascension Materials | “Test Run” + Chapter VII: Act VI in time | Up to Level 60 only |
| 400 Primogems | Explore eastern Snezhnaya | Wish currency |
| Free 4-star character | The Grand Defense | Roster pick |
| Snezhnaya wind glider | Secret Tsarist Assignments | Cosmetic |
| 4-star outfit set | Miliastra Wonderland events | Cosmetic |
Common Misconceptions About the 7.2 Rewards
Myth: The Special Program codes can still be redeemed
They cannot. The three codes were worth 300 Primogems in total and expired on 26 October 2026 at 12am UTC-4. Any list that still presents them as claimable is out of date.
Myth: The Archon Quest gives you Mitya
It gives 560 Primogems and, together with “Test Run”, Ascension Materials that take Mitya to Level 60, not the character. Getting him is a wish on the Event Wish banner. Levels 60 to 90 and his talents are the usual material farm; our talent priority guide covers which talents to level first. Levels 95 and 100 are a later step, after 90, explained separately in our level 95 and 100 explainer.
Myth: The leaked material lists are official
Mitya’s material names, kit numbers and constellations circulate from Version 7.2 beta data, and the sites reporting them flag the numbers as subject to change. HoYoverse has now shown his kit and the material icons, but not those names or numbers, so this article does not repeat them.
Our Take: What to Plan Around in 7.2

Our Take
The free Primogems and the 4-star pick are the safe part of this patch; for Mitya, the kit is out and only his numbers wait for the update.
Our reading: the Archon Quest and the new area are the two tasks to take seriously, because both carry deadlines. Whether to pull for Mitya comes down to his Stellar-Conduct role: he turns two reactions into Beacons and deals his damage on or off field, so he matters most to teams that already trigger those reactions; the multipliers arrive with the update. Furina’s rerun runs beside him in the first half, Zibai and Linnea follow in the second, and a Natlan Chronicled Wish runs at some point in the version, so there is more than one place to spend.
