The two Kasrkin armour sets in Helldivers 2‘s Castellan’s Creed Warbond carry an exclusive passive called True Grit: +20 weapon handling and +30% support-weapon reload speed. That passive, not the guns, is the strongest argument for spending 1,500 Super Credits on 12 August. This guide covers what True Grit actually changes in the field, how TG-8 Sharpshooter and TG-122 Demo-Trooper differ, and which builds get the most out of it. For the complete item list, see our full contents guide.
TL;DR
- True Grit is exclusive to the two Kasrkin sets: +20 weapon handling, +30% support-weapon reload speed
- Two sets share it: TG-8 Sharpshooter (medium) and TG-122 Demo-Trooper (heavy)
- The reload bonus applies to support weapons, so it is worth most to players who actually run them every drop
- Both sets arrive 12 August 2026 inside Castellan’s Creed, 1,500 Super Credits for the whole Warbond
- There is no way to buy the armour separately — the passive comes with the Warbond or not at all
What True Grit Changes in the Field
A Legendary Warbond is Helldivers 2’s top pricing tier inside the Acquisition Center, sitting above the free Standard track and the twenty-plus Premium Warbonds already in the game. The total unlock pool includes 19 Premium Warbonds (1,000 SC each) and 2 Legendary Warbonds (1,500 SC each), for the Halo 3: ODST and the Killzone warbonds. The Warhammer 40,000 crossover is the third Legendary track, and like the other two it functions as a page-gated reward ladder rather than a single purchase that unlocks everything at once. Warbond rewards may consist of weapons, stratagems, boosters, armor sets, cosmetic sets, emotes, victory poses, patterns, and titles, and the Steeled Veterans Premium Warbond was previously bundled into a special edition before being replaced with a token system. Once you buy in with Super Credits, you still spend Medals earned from missions to actually claim each item, page by page.
What the Pre-Reveal Leaks Got Wrong
Worth stating plainly, because it shaped a week of coverage. The pre-reveal community list promised a Bolt Carbine, a Chainsword, Space Marine armour and a pair of fire-resistance boosters. None of it appeared. The armour turned out to be Imperial Guard Kasrkin rather than Astartes, and the exclusive passive — the thing nobody predicted — is what actually makes the set worth owning. If you planned a purchase around leaked boosters, that plan is void.

TG-8 Sharpshooter vs TG-122 Demo-Trooper
The two sets share the same passive and differ only in armour class, so the choice is about how you already play rather than about the bonus.
| Set | Armour class | Passive | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| TG-8 Sharpshooter | Medium | True Grit: +20 weapon handling, +30% support-weapon reload | Players who reposition constantly and still carry a support weapon |
| TG-122 Demo-Trooper | Heavy | True Grit: same passive, heavier plating | Frontline builds that hold ground and reload under fire |
Price and Release: 1,500 Credits on 12 August
Confirmed: 1,500 Super Credits, live 12 August 2026 on PC, PS5 and Xbox. The armour cannot be bought on its own — True Grit comes with the Warbond or not at all, which is what makes the price a single yes-or-no decision rather than an à la carte one.
Stockpiling Super Credits Before the Warbond Releases
1,500 Super Credits with a fixed 12 August deadline is a known target, not an open grind. If you are starting from zero, that is the number and the date to plan against.
Follow this sequence to get it done fast.
-
1
Check your current balance
open the Acquisition Center and note how far you are from 1,500 SC before you plan anything else.
-
2
Run efficient extraction missions
lower-difficulty extraction farming remains the most consistent SC source per hour of play.
-
3
Clear reclaimable Premium Warbond pages
buying every Premium at sticker price is offset somewhat by reclaiming Super Credits from inside the pages you already own, so finish tracks you've started before buying new ones.
-
4
Check the Superstore rotation daily
occasional bundles and rotating cosmetic pages can nudge your balance without extra grinding.
-
5
Hold off on impulse buys
don't burn SC on unrelated cosmetics while the crossover price is still unconfirmed.
-
6
Set a hard 1,500 SC target
that's the safest buffer given every Legendary Warbond so far has landed at that price point.
Which Set Fits Your Build
TG-8 Sharpshooter (medium) keeps you mobile enough to reposition between objectives, which matters because a support weapon is only useful where you can carry it. TG-122 Demo-Trooper (heavy) trades that movement for survivability, and the +30% reload matters more the longer you survive to use it. The honest read: if you already play heavy, the passive is a straight upgrade; if you play light and rarely call in a support weapon, True Grit is doing almost nothing for you and the Warbond is a cosmetic purchase.
Our Take: Is True Grit Worth the Warbond
Our Take
Buy it for the passive, not for the aesthetic — and only if you actually run support weapons.
+30% support-weapon reload is not a small number. Reloading a support weapon is one of the longest windows of helplessness in the game, and cutting it by nearly a third changes when you are willing to commit to a reload at all. The +20 weapon handling stacks on top of that, tightening a class of weapons that normally punish you for moving.
But it is conditional, and that condition is the whole review. A player who takes a support weapon every drop gets a genuine build upgrade for 1,500 credits. A player who mostly runs primaries and stratagem turrets is buying a Cadian costume at Legendary price. Decide which one you are before 12 August, not after.
