AION 2 Duties open at Level 45, but NCSOFT’s launch notice says that if you check the Duty tab in the Journal before 45, they only become available the day after you reach 45. This guide covers the unlock rule, where the fix stands as of 7 October 2026, whether 45 is the level cap, and what community checklists say Duties are.

When Duties Unlock at Level 45 in AION 2
AION 2 went live on Steam and PURPLE on 5 October 2026 from NCSOFT, and Duties sit behind Level 45. NC’s launch maintenance notice splits players into two groups depending on one click.
The two NC documents name different places for the same trigger: the maintenance notice says the Journal and Known Issues says the Map, and neither reconciles the wording. The Known Issues list was last updated on 4 October, before the 5 October maintenance that listed the fix, so it shows the state before the fix rather than after it: if the Duty tab on the Map is opened before level 45, Duties are unavailable at 45 until the following day. The workaround is the same in both: do not open the tab until 45.
Warning
NC announced the fix for 5 October; we have not checked in the client whether it holds. Keeping the Duty tab closed — in the Journal and on the Map — until your character reaches 45 costs nothing either way.
Triggering the bug delays access until the next day, per NC’s wording “starting the next day”. The notice does not say when that day begins, so the wait is not necessarily a full 24 hours.

Is Level 45 the Level Cap in AION 2?
At launch, yes, but the source is a stream and not a written notice. playnews.gg reports that NC’s 4 September “Dungeon Live Gameplay Showcase” set the global launch cap at level 45; neither the report nor any written NC notice says how long that cap stays. See the playnews.gg report.
The level 37 figure you may have seen applied only to the Launch Scale Test on 17 – 18 September 2026 and was a limit for that two-day event. One third-party leveling guide also says NC has not published a global cap number in writing.
What Are Duties? Community Description Only
NC has not described what Duties are, how many there are, what they reward or when they reset in the NC posts we read. Everything below is community-reported, and we have not checked it in the client.
- Two kinds: metabot.gg’s checklist describes Duty Missions and Duty Commands as separate tasks.
- Limit: the same checklist gives five rewarded Duty Missions a day, counted per server rather than per character; it does not apply that limit to Duty Commands.
- Rewards: timesaver.gg calls Duties a steady source of Bound Kinah from the mid-40s; Abyss Points and materials as rewards appear only in community checklists.
- Reset: metabot.gg gives 16:00 server time and notes that NC has not published the server time zone, so the reset time is unconfirmed; follow the timer in the client.
mein-mmo.de lists Duties on its daily and weekly checklist. Where Duties sit in the interface, how each kind is taken and turned in, and the exact limits are not in any NC post we read, so this guide does not describe them.
What Else Sits Around Level 45
These items come from NC posts; there is no complete NC unlock list for level 45 in what we read.
Shared Abyss PvP with your paired server
Per NC’s server-pairing notice, an Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian server for the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts. Server and faction choice is covered in the AION 2 global servers guide.
Cross-server dungeons and instanced content
NC’s Information on Server Transfer notice states that all instanced content, dungeons included, is available cross-server, so a small server does not lock you out of dungeons at 45.
Sanctuary Raid: Ludra is removed for now
NC’s 5 October notice says Ludra is temporarily removed with the full launch build while an updated version is prepared, and that NC will share the new date by 16 October — a deadline for the announcement, not for the raid’s return. Every Daeva who cleared Ludra in Europe during Early Access receives a commemorative title, and NC plans a new First Clear event when the raid returns. Read it in the NC Sanctuary Raid notice.
Our Take: Is the Duty Tab Bug Worth Worrying About?
Clicking early delays Duties until the next day; avoiding it costs nothing.
Not opening a tab until 45 is a cheap precaution. NC announced the fix for 5 October, but we have not checked it in the client, so keeping the tab closed until you see Duties open is still the safe move; while you wait, check the AION 2 class builds guide.
