When Does Gears of War: E-Day Early Access Start?
Three dates matter, and all three use the same clock time: 8:00 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC. That is 11 a.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. in the UK and 5 p.m. in Central Europe on these dates, using standard daylight-saving offsets.
The Coalition’s own wording is in the 1 October early access announcement on Steam, and the same post appears on Xbox Wire.
| Event | Date | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-install opens (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam) | 29 September 2026 | 8:00 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC |
| Early access begins | 1 October 2026 | 8:00 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC |
| Worldwide launch | 6 October 2026 | 8:00 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC |
If the hours are the obstacle rather than the fight itself, Gears of War: E-Day boosting is run hands-on by a booster from your region.
Who Gets Into Gears of War: E-Day Early Access, and Who Waits
Early access is tied to the Premium Edition, either bought outright or reached through the Premium Upgrade on Game Pass. The Coalition says Premium Edition players can begin up to five days early from 1 October, while Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members can join from 6 October. A Game Pass subscription alone does not open the early window.
Warning
Do not assume a Game Pass subscription gets you in on 1 October; members without the Premium Upgrade join on 6 October.
Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam, with cloud gaming through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW. The same post says the game is part of the Disc to Digital program, but it does not describe how that affects early access timing.

- Check the clock. Access opened at 8:00 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC on 1 October; the 6 October launch opens at the same hour.
- No launch button, or the game will not connect? Check the service status at status.gearsofwar.com first.
- Still stuck? Report the problem at GearsofWar.com/support, the page The Coalition points to in its early access post.

What the Early Access Posts Do Not Tell You
Whether early-access progress (campaign saves, Horde Siege class levels, Versus unlocks) carries over to the 6 October launch is not stated in The Coalition’s three Steam posts. The August open beta had its own rule, with beta rewards carrying over and class progression and Player Level reset, per the Open Beta FAQ; that was a beta-to-launch rule and does not answer the early-access question.
Price: the Steam listing shows $69.99 for the Standard Edition. The US Xbox Store lists the Premium Edition at $99.99 and the Premium Edition Upgrade at $30.00 (read 2 October 2026). Competitive and progression questions are covered in our overview of Versus, progression and Horde Siege.
Our Take: Is Paying for Early Access Worth It?
Our Take
Early access runs from 1 October until the worldwide launch on 6 October at 8:00 a.m. PT / 15:00 UTC.
What you pay for is up to five days of play before launch plus the Premium content: the Emergence Customization Pack, four Seasonal Customization Packs, 1,000 Iron and the Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, which the editions page limits to the campaign. The Coalition does not describe any of it as a competitive edge. We found no official confirmation either way on whether early-access progress carries over to launch. If you do not need to play before 6 October, the Premium content is the only other thing the extra price buys.
