Palworld 1.0 launched July 10, 2026, finally unlocking the two zones players have been staring at since Early Access: the floating Sunreach sky islands and the colossal World Tree endgame region. This guide covers every step to reach both areas, the gear and level requirements, fast-travel points, and key POIs including chests, egg spawns, rare ores, and the tower bosses waiting at the end.
TL;DR
- Sunreach unlocks after beating Bjorn and Bastigor at Feybreak Tower (coordinates -1294, -1669), then using the portal on top
- Disable six Defense Modules across the sky islands to reach the Level 68 tower boss Auri and Shaolong
- The World Tree requires all eight tower bosses cleared plus the Panthalus questline (four Echobones → Echoing Flute → catch Panthalus)
- Wing Pack unlocks at level 80 and lets you fly without a Pal slot, but reaching Sunreach itself does not require it
- Bring a Gas Mask for radiation biomes and Holy Water to gather Paloxite and Mythical Wood inside the World Tree
What Are Sunreach and the World Tree in Palworld?
Sunreach, also known as the Sky Islands, is a cluster of floating landmasses that hover above the cloud layer over the Palpagos archipelago, forming a new area built around aerial movement. Inside the central tower waits the Level 68 boss Auri and Shaolong—the eighth and final standard tower—and the gate to the World Tree endgame. The region is also the home of Soralite, the ore behind 1.0’s best gear, and a batch of Pals found nowhere else.
The World Tree is an area players can reach after catching Panthalus, the giant whale Pal. This quest becomes available once you have defeated all Tower Bosses in Palpagos, Feybreak, and Sunreach. The World Tree has multiple biomes, including a radiation area that requires you to equip the Gas Mask helmet to avoid losing health. Together, these regions essentially double the playable map and house the final boss fight.
Where to Find the Sunreach Portal and World Tree Entrance
The Feybreak Tower sits on the southern edge of Feybreak Island, in the southwestern part of the world map at coordinates -1294, -1669. That area runs extremely cold, so equip cold-resistant armor and accessories or you take steady environmental damage on the approach. The tower boss is Bjorn and Bastigor, a mandatory Level 60 fight. Once cleared, a portal waits at the top—interacting with it asks whether you want to travel to another location. The portal carries you to Sunreach.
If you approach the World Tree, you’ll see it’s protected by an enormous energy barrier. To get past this, head to the tiny Deserted Islet near the coordinates (-814, -824). On this minuscule scrap of land, you’ll find an NPC with a large hat and an even larger backpack. Speak with them, and you’ll receive the Panthalus main quest and a special schematic for the Echoing Flute. We cover the full quest in the step-by-step below.

Step-by-Step: How to Unlock Sunreach and the World Tree
Tip
Do not kill Panthalus—whittle it to the last sliver and throw any sphere for the guaranteed catch. Catching it also grants 5 Ancient Technology Points.
Follow this sequence to get it done fast.
-
1
Defeat Bjorn and Bastigor at Feybreak Tower
Head to coordinates -1294, -1669 on the southern edge of Feybreak Island; equip cold-resistant gear to avoid environmental damage.
-
2
Use the Feybreak Tower portal
After the boss falls, teleport to the top of the tower and interact with the portal to load into Sunreach.
-
3
Disable six Defense Modules
A whirlwind surrounds the central tower and blocks access; disable the six Defense Modules scattered across the islands to shut it down.
-
4
Beat Auri and Shaolong (Level 68)
After the fight, speak with Auri on her ledge; this conversation closes the Sunreacher and The Calamity missions and points you toward the Panthalus location.
-
5
Collect four Echobones and craft the Echoing Flute
Track the quest to reveal four whale skeletons, then visit each and grab the interactable bone inside the whale's head. All four sites sit near towers, so fast travel covers most of the trip.
-
6
Catch Panthalus and enter the World Tree
Use the flute at the shrine to summon Panthalus; defeat and catch it, then interact with the terminal beside the World Tree to open the gate.
Gear and Level Requirements for the New 1.0 Zones
The Wing Pack is one of the biggest traversal upgrades added in Palworld 1.0. It works as a new glider type, but instead of relying on a flying Pal, it consumes Wing Cells to let you fly more freely through the air. This is not an early-game item. It is a late-game Technology unlock tied to level 80, rare materials, the Ancient Workbench, and Paloxite from the World Tree. You do not need a Wing Pack to reach Sunreach itself—the portal handles the transport—but it makes navigation across the scattered islands far smoother if you have it later.
| Zone | Recommended Level | Mandatory Gear | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feybreak Tower | ~58-60 | Cold-resistant armor | You need to be at least level 58, or strong enough to defeat the Feybreak Tower boss. |
| Sunreach (Sky Islands) | 65-70 | Flying mount or glider | Alpha Pals here range from Snock Lv. 65 to Jetragon Lv. 70. |
| World Tree | 70-80 | Gas Mask, Holy Water | Picking up Paloxite and Mythical Wood requires Holy Water on your character and Pal—resources vanish without it. |

Key Points of Interest: Chests, Eggs, Bosses, and Rare Ores
New Watchtowers now double as fast-travel points once activated, revealing the surrounding map. Sunreach and the World Tree each have their own clusters of these, so unlock them as you go to cut down backtracking. If you’re chasing the new Pals exclusive to these zones, check our guide on all new Pals in Palworld 1.0 and how to catch them.
Best Methods for Farming the New 1.0 Zones
The new Awakening and Mutation systems are tied to materials found inside the World Tree, so plan to farm there repeatedly once you break the barrier. Pocketpair’s overhaul also added the 72 new Pals you can browse in our Palworld 1.0 everything-new breakdown.

Common Misconceptions About Reaching Sunreach and the World Tree
Myth: You Can Simply Fly to Sunreach
Sunreach stays hidden from your map until you finish one specific fight and step through a portal. The region stays invisible before that. Flying to Sunreach is possible once unlocked—but you need specific Pals who can fly high without losing stamina. The lowest ground in Sunreach is around 350m above sea level. Most players will find the portal far easier.
Myth: You Need the Wing Pack Before You Can Access Sky Islands
The Wing Pack is player equipment, not a mount, so it doesn’t take up a Pal slot. It occupies a gear slot and consumes Wing Cells as you fly. It’s extremely helpful for navigating between floating islands, but the portal from Feybreak Tower drops you into Sunreach without any glide gear. You only need the Wing Pack if you want sustained vertical flight for exploration after you arrive.
Myth: Panthalus Spawns Somewhere in the Wild
Panthalus is not a wild spawn. It only appears through a summoning ritual, and the fight is a fixed encounter with a hard 10-minute timer. Scouring the map for it is a waste of time—craft the Echoing Flute first.
Warning
In multiplayer, every player must disable the six Sunreach defense modules, not just the host. If teammates skip modules, they cannot enter the central tower until they complete the step themselves.
Our Take: Is Rushing the World Tree Worth It?
Our Take
Sunreach is mandatory, the World Tree is optional but carries the payoff.
The path through Sunreach is a natural continuation of the tower boss ladder—you’ll progress there just by following the story. Rushing straight to the World Tree terminal without decent gear, however, will get you killed repeatedly in the radiation biome. Craft the Gas Mask before exploring, or the radiation biome will eat your health bar. Carry Holy Water at all times inside the zone, or Paloxite and Mythical Wood will despawn on approach.
If you’re still using Early Access loadouts, farm Soralite in Sunreach first to build the next gear tier before stepping into the World Tree. The final boss, Zenara and Astralym at Level 80, is a pure gear and skill check with no elemental weakness, so cutting corners just prolongs the grind.
