Palworld 1.0 launched today—July 10, 2026—and Pocketpair’s survival-crafter has officially exited Early Access with its biggest patch yet. The update unlocks the long-blocked World Tree region, adds a floating sky island called Sunreach, introduces 72 new Pals, delivers two new strengthening systems, and finally brings player-versus-player battles. This guide breaks down every confirmed addition, what changes for existing saves, and whether the new systems are worth your time.
TL;DR
- Palworld 1.0 adds two major regions—World Tree (endgame) and Sunreach (sky island)—roughly doubling the map.
- 72 new Pals bring the total roster to 287; 47 are brand-new, 25 are variants.
- Awakening uses Radiant Gems to boost Pal stats; Mutation gives breeding a chance to produce stronger offspring with unique passives.
- The Wing Pack is player equipment that enables flight without burning a party slot.
- Existing saves carry over, but Pocketpair recommends a fresh start for the full experience.
What Is the Palworld 1.0 Update?
Palworld has officially left Early Access with its biggest update to date, featuring a massive overhaul across gameplay, progression, exploration, combat, and balance. The release comes with a huge number of changes and additions, as a Palworld rep confirmed that there are 27 pages of patch notes to relay. This is not a routine content drop—it repositions the game as a finished product with a cohesive story that finally explains the World Tree and the tower bosses.
Palworld 1.0 adds 72 new Pals to the world, bringing the total number of Pals up to an incredible 287. It also adds new ways to strengthen your Pals through Awakening and Mutation, rebalanced stats and abilities for all Pals, and large-scale overhauls across many aspects of the game, including base building, multiplayer, and graphics. For context, this single patch contains more new Pals than any prior update since Early Access launched in January 2024.
Headline Additions in Palworld 1.0
| Feature | What It Adds | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| World Tree Region | The key to the story of Palworld is the World Tree, towering over Palpagos, and it is here that players will face their greatest challenge yet. | Primary new endgame zone with story conclusion |
| Sunreach Sky Island | Floating above Palpagos, a new set of islands has appeared in the skies. Kept aloft by the power of Paldium, this land holds an environment unlike the surface. Sunreach introduces new Pals, tower bosses, and ores that can only be mined using specialized equipment. | Vertical biome designed for aerial traversal |
| 72 New Pals | The most important number is 72 new Pals, made up of 47 brand new ones and 25 variants, which brings the total roster to 287. | Largest single batch ever added |
| Awakening System | Awakening lets you strengthen your Pals even further. In the newly opened mystical area, the World Tree, gather Radiant Gems hidden in its depths and use them on your favorite Pals to awaken their hidden true power. | Endgame stat-boosting for favourite Pals |
| Mutation System | Mutation is a new mechanic where breeding has a low chance of producing a Pal stronger than the normal breeding result. Pals born from mutated eggs have higher stats and a unique passive skill. | Adds RNG depth to breeding optimization |
| Wing Pack Glider | A new type of glider, the Wing Pack, has been added. The Wing Pack consumes Wing Cells to allow for highly free flight without relying on a Pal. | Frees up party slots for combat |
| PvP Mode | After years of requests from the community, Palworld 1.0 introduces a dedicated PvP mode. You can now test your teams and combat builds against other players in structured battles. | Gives endgame a competitive loop |
| Level Cap Increase | Increased the level cap from 65 to 80. | More progression room for endgame content |

Where to Explore: World Tree and Sunreach
The long-locked World Tree barrier falls and becomes the primary new endgame zone, joined by Sunreach, a new island floating in the sky (reached with the new Wing Pack glider). Together they roughly double the playable map (a media estimate, not an official figure). If you played during Early Access, you’ll remember the red barrier north-west of Palpagos—it’s finally gone.
Ancient Ruins have been added across the world. Through exploration and minigames, you can earn valuable rewards such as schematics. Watchtowers have been added in various locations. Accessing one reveals the surrounding map and lets it serve as a fast travel point. A total of 7 new small islands have been added, with three distinct biomes: volcano, desert, and ruins.
Small settlements have been added at the Bamboo Groves, the Snowy Mountains, Sakurajima, and Sunreach. Each settlement features new NPCs as well as sub-missions. That’s a lot more reason to actually explore, rather than just fast-travel between grinding spots.
How to Strengthen Pals: Awakening and Mutation Explained
Awakening: Radiant Gems and Stat Boosts
Awakening requires players to use Awakening Gems on your Pals of the same elemental type so that they get a significant boost on their overall stats. They also receive a new aesthetic where they are clad in a golden glow. Awakening Gems can generally be made by combining Radiant Gems from each element. Radiant Gems drop from the World Tree area, so this is firmly late-game content.
Mutation: Breeding for Stronger Offspring
Mutation occurs when a Pal is born from a mutated egg, with the Pal having higher stats and a more impressive passive skill compared to the rest of its kin. You can increase the chances of Mutation occurring by feeding the parent Pals cake, as there are now new Cakes with special effects that can increase the possibility of Mutated Eggs from being born.
Mushroom Cake slightly increases the likelihood that newly born Pals will have higher stats. Vegetable Cake produces two Pal Eggs at once. Deluxe Vegetable Cake increases the likelihood of mutations and makes stat growth more likely. Special Cake increases the chance of inheriting multiple passive skills from Pal parents.
Tip
Mutation is RNG-based, so expect a grind. Prioritize the Deluxe Vegetable Cake recipe early if you want to optimize breeding runs.

Step-by-Step: Getting the Wing Pack Glider
The Wing Pack eliminates that tradeoff. It is player equipment, not a Pal companion, meaning it occupies a gear slot rather than a party slot. Before 1.0, gliding or flying forced you to dedicate one of your five combat slots to a traversal Pal like Galeclaw or Jetragon. Now you keep all five slots for combat.
Follow this sequence to get it done fast.
-
1
Reach Level 50+
The Wing Pack is locked behind high-level progression and requires Ancient Technology Points in the Technology Tree.
-
2
Build a Weapon Assembly Line II
This crafting station needs a steady power supply from an Electric Pal to function.
-
3
Gather core materials
You'll need 30x Plasteel (Refined from Crude Oil), 50x Pal Metal Ingots, 20x High Quality Cloth, and 15x Ancient Civilization Parts.
-
4
Craft the Wing Pack
Use the Assembly Line to create the glider; it occupies a gear slot, not a Pal slot.
-
5
Acquire Wing Cells
The Wing Pack consumes Wing Cells to allow for highly free flight without relying on a Pal. Farm or craft these to stay airborne.
What Happens to Existing Saves?
Saves, bases, and Pals all carry into 1.0 with no forced wipe. Your hours aren’t lost. However, Pocketpair recommends starting a new save for the best experience because the story and progression flow have been completely reworked. To maintain fairness following the reward adjustments, main mission and sub-mission progress have been reset. For tutorial and Tower Boss-related main missions, some missions will be automatically marked as completed based on your Tower Boss defeat progress.
Practically, that means your world is intact but your mission log resets. If you just want to explore World Tree and Sunreach on an old character, that’s fine—you’ll still hit the new endgame. If you want the narrative to make sense, a fresh start is the call.
Warning
Mods can cause issues on major updates. Back up your save folder before patching, and disable (or remove) mods until compatibility is confirmed by mod authors.

Common Misconceptions About Palworld 1.0
Myth: Server Clustering Is Live
The much-reported “Server Clustering” feature is not usable in 1.0 — the server binary carries cluster groundwork, but there is no supported way to configure it. If you were planning ARK-style linked worlds at launch, you’ll need to wait for a post-1.0 patch.
Myth: Existing Saves Are Wiped
As noted above, Pocketpair has indicated that the 1.0 update will not wipe existing save data — your current world and your collection of Pals carry over. Pocketpair recommending a fresh save is not the same as forcing a wipe.
Myth: The Map Officially Doubled
Multiple outlets report that these additions roughly double the size of the map, though Pocketpair hasn’t put an official percentage on it — treat the “double” figure as an estimate from coverage, not a hard number from the studio.
Our Take: Is Palworld 1.0 Worth It?
Our Take
This is the version Palworld should have launched as.
The World Tree and Sunreach deliver a genuinely large amount of new ground to cover, and the Wing Pack removes one of the most annoying inventory taxes in the game. Awakening and Mutation add long-term chase mechanics that were missing for anyone who’d already bred optimized Pals during Early Access. The PvP mode is a welcome competitive outlet, though its long-term depth will depend on balancing patches.
Honestly, if you bounced after the initial hype in 2024, this is the re-entry point. The reworked story, smoother progression, and doubled-ish map make 1.0 feel closer to a sequel expansion than a patch. If you played it out completely last year, temper expectations—this is more content, not a fundamentally different experience. But if grinding Pals was ever fun for you, 1.0 gives you a reason to do it again.
