Ubisoft dropped Title Update 1.0.4 for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on July 16, 2026, the first major post-launch patch addressing bugs that were actively breaking the game. The Jackdaw disappearing after docking upgrades was the most cited showstopper, and PC cutscenes locked at 30fps on custom graphics settings was the second. The weather system launched with storms rolling in too frequently, and interior lighting left players fumbling in near-blackout conditions. All of those are fixed now.

The Short Answer

This is a stability and fix patch, not a content drop. The game launched roughly a week ago, so getting a patch this size out this quickly is a decent sign that Ubisoft is paying attention. The headline fixes are the disappearing Jackdaw, the 30fps cutscene lock on PC, the oppressive weather, and several quest blockers that were halting story progress. Patch sizes vary wildly by platform: 15.35 GB on Xbox Series X|S, 2.44 GB on PS5, 3.71 GB on PC Ubisoft Connect, and 2.7 GB on Steam.

Nothing in these notes rewrites the experience, but several of the fixes address bugs that were actively getting in players’ way. If you’ve been holding off because of launch jank or if you got stuck on a broken quest, this is the patch that unblocks you.

The Big Fixes — What Was Broken and What Changed

The patch targets four major categories: general performance and stability, gameplay bugs that broke flow, world and progression blockers, and visual issues. Here’s the breakdown of what actually matters.

What ChangedWhy It Matters
Jackdaw no longer disappears after upgrading while dockedThis was a game-breaking bug. Upgrading your ship while docked could make it vanish entirely, leaving you stuck without your main mode of travel. Safest prevention was to make a manual save before ship upgrades . Now fixed outright.
PC cutscenes unlock from 30fps when using custom settingsCustom graphics settings locked cutscenes at 30fps regardless of hardware . You had to use a preset to get smooth cutscenes. That cap is gone.
Weather system rebalanced — more sun, less storm, fog now worksPlayers consistently reported that the dynamic weather system favored endless violent storms that ruined visibility and interrupted sea shanties . Ubisoft tweaked weather balancing to increase the proportion of sun and clear skies, and fixed the issue where weather never became foggy .
Lighting issues fixed in indoor areas and cavernsInterior spaces, caves, and ship boarding sequences were leaving players fumbling around in near-blackout conditions . This was the loudest complaint since launch.
Quest blockers patched in A Governor No Longer, The Observatory, Rift: Wayward DesiresAnimus walls blocked players during A Governor No Longer, allies failed to spawn in The Observatory, and the second zipline was missable in Rift: Wayward Desires . All three are now fixed.
El Tiburon boss fight now includes hints for breaking his defenseDuring the battle with El Tiburon, it was unclear for many players how to break his defense . Normal melee and pistol Quick Shot don't work — use manual pistol aim . Hints now appear in-fight.
Players can no longer clip through the ship's hull while swimmingClipping into the Jackdaw's hull while swimming near the ship was common. Fixed.
Players no longer get locked out of movement after exiting a minigameExiting a minigame could freeze your character. Annoying, now patched.
Humpback whale tail slap is now dodgeable during harpooningPlayers were unable to dodge the fatal Humpback Whale's tail slap during harpooning . That dodge window is now fixed.
Civilians no longer enter brawl zonesNPCs were wandering into brawl zones and getting caught in combat. Cleaned up.
Map icons no longer disappear after rebooting the gameLocation activity icons on the map were vanishing after game restart . Annoying quality-of-life issue, now resolved.
Foggy weather now actually appearsA bug prevented foggy weather from activating at all . Fixed.
Floating bushes groundedFloating bushes were a visual glitch, now correctly attached to terrain .
Body drop audio no longer duplicatesKilling an enemy triggered a sound effect that made a single body drop sound like multiple bodies dropping . Small thing, but the kind of bug that sticks in your head once you notice it .

The Weather Rebalance Nobody Expected

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced made some notable changes to the original game’s weather system to make storms more dynamic and realistic — but they’ve also gotten annoyingly frequent. Players consistently reported that the dynamic weather system favored endless violent storms that ruined visibility and interrupted sea shanties. One player noted: ‘I don’t mind this change when playing on the ground, but I’m worried that we won’t get that many epic naval battles in the middle of pouring rain, waterspouts, and thunderstorms’.

Ubisoft has fixed the issue where the weather never becomes foggy and tweaked weather system balancing to increase the proportion of sun and clear skies. The patch doesn’t specify exact ratios, but the storms are noticeably less frequent post-patch. If you loved the chaotic weather of the original system, you’ll notice the difference. If you were sick of sailing blind through waterspouts, this is a huge relief.

Quest Fixes and Progression Blockers

Several story missions had hard blocks that prevented progression. The development team prioritized repairing broken mission triggers that halted campaign progress, specifically issues involving Animus walls blocking players during the A Governor No Longer mission. In The Observatory, allies would fail to arrive together with Roberts, and in The Other Brother, Upton could be assassinated early. In Rift: Wayward Desires, players would miss the second zipline when falling from the first, and Imagine My Surprise and The Commander’s Ruse could not be completed at the same time.

All of those are patched. If you were stuck on any of these quests before downloading 1.04, load a save from before the broken point rather than the autosave at the stuck moment. Continuing from an already-bugged autosave might not apply the fix correctly.

PC-Specific Fixes Worth Mentioning

The 30fps cutscene lock on custom graphics settings was the biggest PC-specific complaint. There was a bug in AC Black Flag Resynced that locked cutscenes to 30fps if you changed some specific settings, and the gaming community came up with workarounds involving mods or reverting to presets. PC players running custom graphics settings were getting cutscenes locked at 30fps regardless of their hardware. That cap is now removed.

The patch also addresses multiple save/load issues and various localization issues for Simplified Chinese, Italian, and Arabic. A dubbing issue was affecting voiceover playback and cutscene visuals in localized versions. All fixed.

What's Still Broken

Background music may stop playing when opening the Patch Notes menu during gameplay, and the Double Assassination prompt may not appear on guards near the first powder keg during the Mark the Kings at the Camp objective. In A Second Chance, Edward can fast travel to the Jackdaw while carrying food, which may cause the food to disappear, and in Commodore Eighty-Sixed, the player may be unable to eavesdrop when bodies are positioned in front of the door. Multiple tutorials are retriggered during The Treasure Fleet quest.

These are all marked Open or In Progress in the official tracker. Camera and FOV feels too close during ship and on-foot combat, and PS5 DualSense vibration and haptic feedback may fail. There are other, more substantial content updates on the way, including a New Game Plus mode currently in development.

The Bottom Line

Depends on whether you were blocked by one of the big bugs. If the Jackdaw disappeared on you, if you were stuck on A Governor No Longer or The Observatory, or if you were sick of sailing through endless storms, this patch directly addresses your complaints. If you were playing on PC with custom settings, the cutscene unlock alone is worth the download. Update 1.04 does not add new content, but it does make the experience noticeably cleaner across the board. If you have been holding off on diving into the Caribbean because of early-launch jank, this is a reasonable point to start.
