Patch 1.1.5.0, released 8 September 2026, changed what you need to board the hovercraft to Icebreaker and added a second place to board it. This guide walks the whole entry sequence: the Ragman task that gives you the first “Sudak-tudak” kits, what it costs to complete, where each transit waits, how to refill, and how the XP you earn on the ship has changed. Every claim is labelled by where it comes from.

TL;DR

  • Applies to Seasonal, PvP and PvE, per Battlestate on X
  • Entry now costs a one-time-use “Sudak-tudak” marine repair kit instead of roubles (patch notes)
  • First kits come from Ragman’s “Pay the Fare!”; completing it opens an operational task that gives more (patch notes)
  • Per Insider Gaming, not the patch notes: hand in a Pipe Grip Wrench, Ratchet Wrench and Electric Drill; 10 kits in PvE, 5 in PvP
  • Two ways in: Shoreline’s transit and the new Lighthouse hovercraft at the pier near the water cottages
  • XP for Wedge, his squad and Black Division is reduced; the transit multiplier starts lower for 1–2 transits

Who This Applies To

Battlestate stated on X on 3 September, five days before the patch, that the changes “will apply to all game modes – Seasonal, PvP, and PvE.” The patch notes themselves do not separate modes. The one mode difference on record is Insider Gaming’s report of different kit counts from “Pay the Fare!” in PvE and PvP, which Battlestate has not confirmed. Per the same guide, if you have not reached the map through the story yet, the task that supplies kits will not appear either.

What Changed in Icebreaker Access

Illustration: A separate crossing point now waits on the coast.

Icebreaker is reached by hovercraft transit from another map. Two things changed. The entry cost: the patch notes say Icebreaker “no longer requires a payment in roubles, but does require a one-time use ‘Sudak-tudak’ marine repair kit.” The entry points: “Icebreaker can now be accessed from Shoreline and Lighthouse.” The Lighthouse route is new and ships inside the wider Lighthouse rework, where the notes place it: “The hovercraft stays at the pier near the water cottages.” The rest of that rework is covered in our Lighthouse and Lightkeeper breakdown; this article stays on the ship side. The Shoreline transit is the pre-existing route: the notes mark only the Lighthouse point as added, and Insider Gaming names Shoreline as the other option. The notes do not restate where it sits or say whether it moved, so this guide cannot place it either; in raid, look for the Icebreaker transit marker.

Battlestate does not restate the old fee. Insider Gaming puts it at 400,000 per transit, later raised to 700,000; treat that as press reporting.

How to Get the Sudak-Tudak Kit: Pay the Fare!

The patch notes give only the skeleton: the kit “can be obtained by completing Ragman’s ‘Pay the Fare!’ task.” Everything below comes from Insider Gaming’s guide of 8 September and is not in the patch notes.

Prerequisite

Per Insider Gaming, the task appears only once you have “progressed far enough through the Boreas story chapter, which unlocks the Icebreaker map.” If Ragman is not offering it, check that first.

Items to hand in

Per Insider Gaming: 1 Pipe Grip Wrench, 1 Ratchet Wrench and 1 Electric Drill, handed to Ragman. The guide calls them common and points at toolboxes and locked brown crates.

Reward and the PvP / PvE split

Per Insider Gaming: 30,000 XP and up to 10 kits, “10 if you’re playing PvE, but only five if you’re a PvP player.” No Battlestate source states a number. Read the 10 / 5 split as reported, not fixed.

How the item behaves

Also per Insider Gaming: the kit cannot be listed on the flea, fits only a special item slot (so it cannot be looted from another player), and weighs 4.5 kg. The patch notes say only that it is one-time use. Neither source says whether the transit can draw a kit from your stash, so carry one into the raid you plan to transit from.

Time cost

The first entry costs three tool items and a turn-in. Every entry after that costs one kit, and every batch beyond the initial one costs a completion of the operational task, which Battlestate says pays “several” kits at a time. Neither source states how long that task takes, how many kits “several” is, or whether it has a cooldown, so the real grind per run is still unknown. Keep a buffer rather than assuming a kit is always in reserve.

Step-by-Step: Your First Icebreaker Entry

The entry sequence only; kit refills and XP changes follow in their own sections.

  1. 1

    Check the story prerequisite

Open Ragman. If "Pay the Fare!" is not offered, Insider Gaming says you have not progressed far enough in the Boreas story chapter that unlocks Icebreaker; finish that first.

  2. 2

Unlock and complete "Pay the Fare!"

Per Insider Gaming, collect 1 Pipe Grip Wrench, 1 Ratchet Wrench and 1 Electric Drill and hand them to Ragman. Toolboxes and locked brown crates on any map are the suggested spots.

  3. 3

Collect the reward and take a kit with you

Turn the task in to Ragman (Insider Gaming: 10 kits in PvE, 5 in PvP; count unconfirmed by Battlestate). Before loading into the raid you will transit from, place one kit in its special item slot so it is on your character, not in your stash.

  4. 4

    Go to a transit point

Shoreline: the transit that existed before 1.1.5.0, per Insider Gaming; the patch notes list no change to it and do not restate its position or say whether it moved, so look for the Icebreaker transit marker in raid. Lighthouse: the hovercraft at the pier near the water cottages (patch notes). Both take the same kit.

  5. 5

    Activate the transit

With a kit on you, use the transit. The kit is one-time use and is consumed for entry; the exact moment it is taken is not stated by either source.

Refilling Kits After the First Run

The refill route unlocks when you complete “Pay the Fare!”, not when you spend a kit. The patch notes: “After completing it, you’ll gain access to a special type of operational task that rewards more ‘Sudak-tudak’ repair kits.” The X announcement adds that you receive “several of these tool kits” for each completion; Insider Gaming says outright that it is repeatable. No source gives the count per completion, a cooldown, or a cap. Do not run your stock to zero: the only documented way back in is another completion of that task.

XP Changes on Icebreaker

A rusted ship anchored offshore at night under a starry sky.
Illustration: The ship waits quietly before the fight begins.

Two separate cuts. First, the bonus for transitioning between locations. Patch notes: “Adjusted the XP multiplier awarded for transitions. It will now increase more gradually, starting at a lower value than before for 1-2 transitions and reaching the previous values at 16 or more transitions.” A raid that hops straight into Icebreaker now front-loads less of that bonus; the old multiplier returns only from the 16th transition. The rule covers transitions in general, not Icebreaker alone.

Second, specific to the ship: “Reduced the XP gained for eliminating Wedge, his squad, and Black Division operatives on Icebreaker.” No offset is mentioned.

Battlestate explained the intent on X: “To prevent a situation where Icebreaker becomes the primary way to progress through the Leagues, we’re planning to make several changes to the location’s entry requirements and the amount of XP earned there.” If you level a Seasonal character through Icebreaker, cross-check our Kord Breach season guide: the map pays less per run, and each run costs a kit.

If you want the raid itself done on your PvE account, that is a separate service; the kit requirement still applies to it.

Not everyone has the evenings for this — Escape From Tarkov boosting covers the same ground with someone else on the keys.

Achievement and Model Kit

One item rides along with the update: an Icebreaker Model Kit was added to the rewards of the “Part of the Ship, Part of the Crew” achievement, together with a crafting recipe that uses it. The notes say nothing about what the recipe produces.

Common Misconceptions

“You can buy a kit from a trader or the flea”

The patch notes name two sources: “Pay the Fare!” and the operational task after it. Insider Gaming adds that it cannot be listed on the flea. No trader sale is documented.

“The transit XP change is an Icebreaker nerf”

The multiplier rule covers transitions generally. What is Icebreaker-specific is the reduced XP for Wedge, his squad and Black Division. The two stack on a run, but only one is about the ship.

“Lighthouse needs a different kit than Shoreline”

The notes name one item and two points to reach the map. Nothing distinguishes the hovercrafts by cost or requirement; the difference is where you start.

Our Take

Our Take

The gate changed type, and whether that is an improvement depends on how often you run the ship.

By our reading, an occasional visitor comes out ahead: the one-off task replaces a per-trip fee. A regular runner meets a new, undocumented limit: each entry burns a kit, and the yield and cadence of the operational task that supplies them have not been published. The notes list no change to Icebreaker loot. On XP, Battlestate said it wanted Icebreaker to stop being the main Leagues route, and both cuts point that way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Sudak-tudak kit for every Icebreaker run?
Yes. The patch notes call the kit one-time use, so each entry consumes one, and no other way to pay for the transit is documented.
What do I hand in for "Pay the Fare!"?
Per Insider Gaming, not the patch notes: 1 Pipe Grip Wrench, 1 Ratchet Wrench and 1 Electric Drill, given to Ragman. The task appears only after enough progress in the Boreas story chapter.
Do PvP and PvE get the same number of kits?
Insider Gaming reports 10 kits in PvE and 5 in PvP from "Pay the Fare!". Battlestate has not confirmed any count; it has only said the changes apply to Seasonal, PvP and PvE.
Can I buy a kit from a trader or the flea market?
No documented way. The patch notes list only the Ragman task and the operational task that follows it, and Insider Gaming says the kit cannot be listed on the flea and sits in a special slot that other players cannot loot.
Why is my XP lower after transitioning into Icebreaker?
Two changes stack: the transit XP multiplier now starts lower for 1–2 transitions and only reaches the previous values at 16 or more, and the XP for Wedge, his squad and Black Division on Icebreaker was reduced separately.
