Frostfire trades 30 Slash for 80 Frost and a little Fire \u2014 the right pick against enemies that are not frost-resistant, and the wrong one against anything that is. Thunderblood keeps the full Slash and adds Lightning that scales the lower your health drops. Check the resistance of what you are fighting before spending the Essence; the notes publish none of the Deep North creatures\u2019 resistances, and we have not tested them.<\/p><div class=\"post-callout post-callout--note\"><p class=\"post-callout__label\">Repair level 4<\/p><p>All three lines repair at a level-4 station. It is a world-generated station in the <strong>Mountains<\/strong>, usually near a peak; an idol-shaped map marker appears once you get close. On a world created before 1.0, it only generates in Mountain regions you had not explored yet.<\/p><p>How it works: bring an item already at its normal maximum quality, the Idol it asks for \u2014 <strong>Battle Idols<\/strong> for weapons, tools and staves, <strong>Protection Idols<\/strong> for armour, capes and shields, in the material tier the forge displays (Deep North gear wants Bloodgold Idols; there are 16 idols across eight tiers) \u2014 plus one more round of the item\u2019s normal upgrade materials. Each attempt has a <strong>65% chance to add one quality level<\/strong> beyond the normal cap and a <strong>35% chance to destroy the item<\/strong>, returning only part of its materials; a failed attempt also damages your character. A refined item can be put in again, at the same risk. Idols come from chests and containers across the world, not from the forge.<\/p><p>That is what \u201cpossibility\u201d meant. The 1.0.12 fix (\u201cusing the Forge of Potential no longer unlocks recipes that should not be unlocked\u201d) was a bug fix, not a description of the mechanic. No price, no unlock condition, and no slot or row count appears in the official notes for either upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Third-party testing has circulated specific numbers \u2014 one guide reports Wider Pockets unlocking after Moder for a set gold cost and Deeper Pockets after a later boss for a higher cost, each adding a row \u2014 but a separate breakdown explicitly flags that the exact price and slot count aren't officially confirmed and should be treated as unverified. Until Iron Gate states a number directly, budget your play around \"these exist and cost currency\" rather than a specific figure.<\/p>\n\n"},{"acf_fc_layout":"title","heading":"Building a Deep North Loadout: Melee, Magic and Starter Kit","tag":"h2"},{"acf_fc_layout":"text","text":"<p>Two loadouts, built from the in-game values above rather than from the names. Stats are Game8\u2019s readings as of 16 September 2026; we have not run these kits in our own client, and Deep North enemy resistances are not published, so the elemental choice is yours to check.<\/p><h3>Melee Loadout<\/h3><p><strong>Weapon:<\/strong> a Nord one-hander first (Nord Sword: Slash 155, stamina 16, parry 2\u00d7), converted to <strong>Thunderblood<\/strong> (Slash 155 + Lightning 40, more damage the lower your health) as the default, or <strong>Frostfire<\/strong> (Slash 125 + Frost 80 + Fire 10) where the target is not frost-resistant. <strong>Shield:<\/strong> Nord Shield (block 132, block power 50, parry 1.5\u00d7) for a parry-and-riposte rhythm; Nord Greatshield (158 \/ 150, \u221210% speed) if you tank for the group; Nord Buckler (88 \/ 30, parry 2.5\u00d7) only if you parry everything. <strong>Armour:<\/strong> Protector, 44 per piece with frost resistance on the chest; Vanguard (34) if the weight bothers you. <strong>Cape:<\/strong> Moose Hide Cape \u2014 12 armour, frost resistance, \u221220% attack and run stamina (Black Forge). <strong>Trinket:<\/strong> Neckstabber \u2014 +100 health, +20% health regen, +20 armour, \u221210% run and attack stamina. <strong>Food:<\/strong> Meat in Bread (110 health \/ 37 stamina, 30 min) or Seal Meat Soup (110 \/ 37), Northern Morning Fare (85 \/ 85 \/ 48 Eitr, 50 min) as the all-rounder, Oatmeal (39 \/ 115) for the stamina slot.<\/p><h3>Magic Loadout<\/h3><p><strong>Staves (Frost Foundry, Liquid Frost + Cast):<\/strong> <strong>Lightning Strike<\/strong> as the main damage staff (Lightning 300, 40 Eitr per cast); <strong>Northern Vengeance<\/strong> for crowds (area effect, 100 Eitr plus 40% of your health per cast \u2014 not a spam button); <strong>Spirit Caller<\/strong> for a summon (also 100 Eitr + 40% health); <strong>Echo Spike<\/strong> is the cheap cast at 25 Eitr, but Game8 lists no damage for it yet, so treat it as unverified. Staves block at 48 armour, so keep a Nord one-hander and a Nord Shield on the bar for when the Eitr runs out. <strong>Armour:<\/strong> the Caller set \u2014 22 per piece, Eitr regen +60% on robes and trousers and +40% on the headdress, frost resistance on the robes, \u22122% speed on two pieces. <strong>Cape:<\/strong> Cape of the Caller (Galdr Table, Seal Pelt \u00d76 + Nornathread \u00d72): frost resistance, Eitr regen +20%, dodge stamina \u221210%. <strong>Trinket:<\/strong> Witch Crown \u2014 +50 Eitr and +50 stamina on use, +10% regen on health, stamina and Eitr. <strong>Food:<\/strong> one Eitr dish is mandatory \u2014 Fish Soup (105 Eitr), Meatballs and Poteitr (105), Baked Poteitr (100) or Smoked Fish (95) \u2014 plus Northern Morning Fare and a health dish.<\/p><h3>Starter Kit: What You Can Build Before the Frost Foundry<\/h3><p>Lox Fur (Jacket, Trousers, Hood) is the entry set for a reason the notes never state: it is a <strong>Workbench<\/strong> craft from Lox Pelt and Bone Fragments \u2014 Plains-tier materials \u2014 at 16 armour per piece, so you can wear it on the first trip north. Pair it with the Shield of Roots (Workbench, Finewood \u00d710 + Writhan Roots \u00d71; block 48 \/ 40) and the raw Deep North foods, Kale (35 \/ 35) and Poteitr (35 \/ 35 \/ 35 Eitr), until the first Frost Foundry is up. The two trinkets are Deep North finds, not starter items.<\/p><p>What is confirmed about the scope: three full 12-weapon lines, four staves, four shields, four complete armour sets, two capes, two trinkets and one forge.
